AZVendor
Oooh, a Dixie Narco flex pak machine. I'm sitting on one just for parts and have only repaired 2 in the last 10 years. They had the dumbest design that required you to really think about the order you stacked soda on your cart so you could fill one rack at a time without going back and forth between racks constantly as you filled them. I had two of them suckers in a couple storage units I bought for cheap, I figured I would put them to use but after asking about them on this forum, you see the pictures I posted. kept what I thought I might need off them. Walta
Thanks for the photos. I hope devil has a special place for the flex pack design team. It does give me a warm feeling in the arms of that claw. Walta
AZVendor
Okay guys, here's what I junked today. Photos are to compete with Cajuns- and to see if I can get them off my phone and into this post. Boy, that was alot of work. Originals on the phone were each over 1MB in size and I couldn't resize them until I moved them into a file on the computer. If these post in the order I attached them, the first one is the truck loaded, Rowe 448E2 in front, Vendo VF156 (small version of old Super Stack), and on the end a DN368 that someone took a Sawzall to. Next pic is the DN donating itself to research and the last is the 448 and Vendo together that the guy took delight in crushing before hitting the pile. 1700 lbs. even for $170 @ 200/ ton. What prices are you guys getting right now?
CajunCandy
1700 lbs. even for $170 @ 200/ ton. What prices are you guys getting right now? Over here in Cajun land it's $190 @ gross ton, so your doing good AZVendor. I'm all out of machines to scrap, but since I'm a vendor and not a tech, I will not visit the that scrap yard anytime soon. mike

Poplady1
Flex Pack expert here. We know lots of secrets on how to keep those units running. We worked with the Indy Pepsi team on the first group. They could not keep them running so they decided to just send them to be crushed. We ended up with over 100 of them and the Pepsi design team came to our warehouse on weekends to practice on those machines. Once they figured out most of the problems (lots of the problems in loading the drinks and not putting your hand on the plastic motor to stop them from hitting it so hard) and the spacers. Anyway they were interesting machines. We ended up having some special parts made for them. Still remember pulling those columns in and out....lord. These machines were developed when bottles were first hitting the market and they wanted to have a machine very flexible able to sell all size of cans/bottles etc. It was the beginning I think.... I remember the first time I saw one at Betson Distributing and as soon as I opened the door I knew it would be a nightmare to fill. I was a very organized operator, but that machine would require even more thinking while filling. I knew I would never buy one and felt bad for anyone that Betson talked into one. Give me a stack machine anyday.
AZVendor
I like the way u transport machines! Wish I had a truck w lift gate. I have had a liftgate from my beginning in 1985. I have never had to rely on another mover except for stairs, Bevmax 2 and 3 that are too wide for a service body and the one time I puked tranny fluid all over the place with 2 machines on the truck. Had to call a friendly competitor to come get the machines off my truck. The first liftgate I had was a Tommylift with a standard 27" platform. In order to put a snack machine on the gate I had to set the legs on 2x6's to support the front legs that were off the gate. The weight of the machine over the back legs is what kept it balanced. Boy was I stupid. Now I always get the deepest platform I can when I need a new liftgate.
ruff84
I use my father in laws truck with a lift gate and it is so nice. The heaviest lifting i have done is carrying the soda cases from my truck to the machine. lo

The two flex packs I took out of storage was parked in those units for 12-15 years, because the guy lost his vending business. They looked like they could be plugged up and put to work, but everybody informed me to junk them and I would sleep better! Do they really give that much trouble? tnuhad
Cool thanks! I understand from looking at a manual that they put at least two different boards in them. I can send a picture of the board or try to find a Dixie part number if that will help. I have been in the vending business for almost 40 years so I have access to lots of equipment, just not a Flexpak.
Walta
If you just got this machine do you self a favor and don’t waste time and money on this thing. If it has given you years of good service consider yourself very lucky and buy a few lottery tickets when you get that board. Walta
tnuhad
I had 5 of them for years and they were decent machines. My main complaint is that they are noisy to fill. I have sold all but one of them and one of the ones I sold is having trouble with the control board. I am from Oklahoma and early this summer we had an extended storm season and it knocked out compressors, coin mechs and control boards everywhere. One of the machines I sold got the control board zapped and I have sent it to several board repairs places but they were unable to repair. Am looking for a board to help my customer get their machine operating again.

When they finally got it right they junked them. They went to pepsi and for every 2 machines they gave them one 501 E. What a shame. It was a fantastic can machine. There are a few still out there working. No parts now. To bad

I use a drop deck trailer... Roll on roll off. I won't use a tommy lift unless I have a experienced hand with me. I can load and unload all by myself. Just ordered a air tow. 75" by 12'. Air ride, electric brakes, hydraulic lift. Going to love this trailer. I use the Step Rider big boy dolly and lift and roll pairs. I am 59 almost 60. 5'7" 180 and can move most machines by myself. The only thing you got on me is a few years of seasoning Hitting 48 this year and I agree with you on moving machings. If you have the right equipment and understand how to use it just about anyone can move machines with only a little assistance. Over the years my wife or one of my daughters has helped me moved machines many times.
