Good deal on Machines?

Recommended Posts

From what I understand the Seaga's are a piece of junk. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. Also anything from usedvending.com is usually expensive because they are a third party seller.

Agreed, that site is one of the last places I'd look for a machine - especially those machines. Beware the "dark side" young dapoota - more reading and less buying

Like I said on your welcome post, not the best choice, but at least you made the jump into the pool and started your business.

My advice read and learn more about the different kinds of equipment before you make your next equipment purchase. We will be more than happy to advise you as you consider making additional purchases. Looking forward to hearing your story as you grow.

Hey mission, I haven't made the purchase YET. I guess I jumped the gun with excitement on that first post because I agreed with the guy to pay him that money. I haven't closed the deal yet though. They are all in a location already, and I guess to me that was a selling point. I'm supposed to meet him on friday to do the sale. what do you think those machines would be worth? the guy said he wanted out because he put the 2 new machines on his CC.

What type of things go wrong with the Seagas?

don't buy

combo capacity sucks.

Also, don't buy from online sites like used vending.

Stick to craigslist or manufacturer.

also, I wouldnt buy anything other than a full size Crane, AP, USI, or Rowe for snack, and Dixie narco, Vendo, or Royal for soda.

Have to agree with others that have already discouraged you on this. The price seems too high--especially for machines that aren't highly regarded by your peers.

I would not recommend combo soda/snack machines. They will always have issues. It will cost you a lot more to repair them and to maintain them. They will hold A LOT less product. They cost more...

I like you guys so far :). I'm going to cancel the deal and try to pick up some machines on the cheap. I also want to learn how to repair them myself... So having machines that are hard to find parts for(as someone mentioned in my other post) is something I don't want to fool with. Time to walk away and keep looking.

Dapoopta, when you look at machines you should always write down the model number off the serial number label/plate on the machine so you can get more specific info about the machine off the internet or when asking questions. USI made different 35 selection models over the years. They are generally called a GF35, but the model number may be 3076, 3141, or possible others. The value of the machine will hinge on several factors: condition of the machine (as-is, location ready, etc), type of coinage (coin mech and validator), age/generation of machine, how bad you need it. Well, you get the picture. Call the seller and ask for the model of the machine (4 digit number), and models of coinage and then post again so we can tell you more about it. Also tell us what condition you feel it's in. Things like are the shelves clean, is the paint good or just repainted or scratched and faded?

Thanks for the tip AZ. Im going to look at that machine again, along with a few others.

Here is one I recently saw on auction: http://vendiscuss.net/uploads/gallery/album_106/gallery_6738_106_39774.jpg

vend

What do you think this would be worth in GOOD condition. It didn't list all the info for it, so it would be a shot in the dark. What is the max you'd pay?

The snack machine is a USI Snackmart 3, model 3015A. The 3015 began production in 1990 and was still sold by USI into the early 2000's. The one in the pic is a later model indicated by the T-handle. Older ones used an L-handle. In good shape with what looks like a Coinco (good) validator the value is $400 - $1000 depending on condition. Typical problems are loose doors due to wear in the lockbar and latches on the cabinet (door will shake a little), misalignment of the control panel (minor issue), and wire breaks where shelf harness plugs into cabinet (easy fix). No use machine will ever be flawless.

Now the price you pay will vary based on who's selling it, is it on location, etc.

The soda machine on Ebay is a DN501E that is an excellent machine if it's complete and truly working. My concern is that it's sitting outside in the snow and you don't know how long it's been outside. It has a Mars VN2500 validator (good), but having sat outside it probably needs new belts. The listing says it's a good working machine and ready to put on location, but, in my opinion, only if the location is outside in the snow. The problem is you can't see the machine and whether its rusty, faded, condition of compressor, coin mech or validator. All that said, at the current bid if $327, it's a steal, but the bids will probably go higher. Do you live near the sellers location in Conneticut? If you do you need to see the machine first. If not then the cost of shipping the machine will have to be considered. I would never buy a machine unseen or have one shipped to me. You can find good used stuff locally unless you live in the boonies.

does this seem like a good price for a machine? I have a place that would be intersted in cans. Not sure about the cover art of this machine, but I guess it might do :-)

I saw a pop machine go on ebay for about $200... and I don't know if $800 is way too much or not.

Anytime you see a soda machine with a flat front and big square buttons, you know it's about thirty years old.

This guy is in lala land if he thinks that machine is worth 8 bills - I wouldn't give him fifty bucks for it

This is a DN501T with an SII or SIID control board. It's a 3 can deep or 1 - 2 bottle deep machine depending on the bottles. 16.9oz water and soda can be 2 deep, 20oz soda is one deep, 20oz Gatorade can be 2 deep. This is a good, solid machine that is a workhorse and you will like it.

My take on the machine is that the paint still looks brand new. It has an Ardac validator and an old sign. Figure the cost of a validator upgrade and harness and a new sign and make an offer based on that. The price of $800 is probably from what they have seen somewhere on Craigslist themselves.
