Dumping U Turns

catch me if you can

Recommended Posts

I purchased a route with 30 U Turns about a year ago, the income has been pretty good but eight compartments is way to much. I would like to swap the majority of these machines out and replace them with doubles. What is the best double for the money? I am looking for something that is reasonbly priced but will be reliable for years. I figure I will sell the U Turns online and that will help me recoup a lot of the money I will need to spend on the new doubles.

I would use Oak Vistas with the 300 globe for most accounts. For really busy places maybe the panel machine or 450 globe. They will last forever and ar easily converted from gum to candy to 1" caps or superballs.

Another option is to convert some of your 8 selects into 4 selects. It's very simple. You just need to take the unit apart and cut the center rod down with a hack saw. You can either sell the extra parts on ebay or Craigslist or convert your top section of your 8 select to 4 selects as well. You will need some extra parts to do that though. You have to be somewhat precise on the length you cut off of your center rod but as long as you are within a few milimeters either way you are fine.

I agree that most locations don't need an 8 select and I cut down about 30 of my U-Turn units and converted them to 4 selects. Something to consider and its a cheap and easy way to go.

I've done this same thing and it worked very well for me. Didn't have to get any spare parts though? Just cut that and then reused everything from before and had some extra rod, canisters, coin mech, and foam. When i do this i so make sure for some i use the bigger canisters and others i use the smaller so you can have some spares if they ever get damaged

I meant that you only need extra spare parts if you want to also convert the left over extra parts to a second 4 select. When you take off the top section of the 8 select, you have a base with coin mechs, chutes and coin cups that can also be used for another 4 select machine. That is when you need extra parts.

To convert a 8 select to a single 4 select, you don't need any spare parts. You only need a hacksaw to cut the center rod down. That's it.
