Two new(NOS) bulk machines, Lucky Leprechaun and SportsZone

I picked up a couple of fun action type bulk machines yesterday, both from the same location.

Lucky Leprechaun and Sports Zone, both were purchased late 2006. The seller had original receipts, so I wasn't *too* worried about them being stolen...when they didn't have the keys.

I tried all the keys I have, none fit. Each has several locks of one style or another, so I have to deal with that. To drill,or not to drill...I'll call on Monday to see if they keep records of key numbers (a guy can dream...). Or I'll drill them out. I'm not looking forward to drilling the barrel locks (each has two or three of both style locks).

I'm not sure if these vendors are common. I figure there aren't too many in this close to mint condition, but who knows? I see they sell a racing game (same thing with different graphics) now at bulkvending dot com, I need to replace the rubber bands on the flippers, which are disintegrated with age.

I'll have to make another trip to Astro to figure out which size gumballs are correct. I noticed several sizes of baseball gumballs there, and the staff seemed to know his stuff. Of course, somebody here will probably know.

Anyhow, wanted to stop by the forum before the end of the day to get caught up and mention my new finds...

Have fun!

James

I had a friend who had a route of the sportszones and they did very well for him. As long as the repairs are not too costly it should be quick ROI. I think the uniqueness should make them easy to place in a restaurant, pizza place or sports bar.

When you get those barrel locks drilled out, call LSI in Florida and get some replacements "all keyed alike". The barrel locks with the round keys are quite easy to drill out. If you look in the round opening you'll see the ends of the 7 pins - get a small bit and hit those pins and you'll have it open in less than 10 minutes - I used a 9.6 volt cordless drill to do this.

Yes

do u carry it around? i would feel a little leery here in florida if ur pulled over in a traffic stop and the cops find that in your car you are going to prison on felony charges.

if ur not a lock smith its considered posesion of burglary tools a 3rd degree felony under fs 810.06

I guess I should keep it in the glovebox next to the pistol, then? ;D

I'm not sure this will stand out as anything special when it's laying in the toolbox, although I plan to use it in my shop.

Thanks

James

It's a tool of my trade, not worried, but thanks for the warning. Look on YouTube, there are tons of videos showing how quick and easy these picks are to use

yeah just a heads up years ago my neighbor got arrested for having a "slim jim " in his car , during a routine traffic stop, he had to plead guilty to felony charges to keep from going to prison , in florida you can only have lock picks if ur a lock smith otherwise you can get in a lot of trouble. if u keep them at the workshop it wont ever becomes an issue but i would not recommend carrying them around. i was shocked to find out this was even illegal many people i know carried a slim jim in the car it was a standard thing like a tire jack

I carry a slim jim in truck too. It is perfect to unjam sticker machines when they try to vend two stickers at once. Just tear off folder and stickers hanging out and push the rest out from the back with the slim jim
