ransom
I just came across an opportunity today here locally where someone is selling their 4 Vendstar 3000 machines, 3 of which are already placed in locations, for $250. I have read enough to know that the Vendstar is a lower-end machine, and they wouldn't be worth the price if they weren't already placed, but with the placements, all of which gross at least $20/mo according to this person, it seems like it might be a decent deal to get my feet wet. This would be my first dip into the bulk vending waters. What say ye experts? The locations are a Chinese restaurant, a company break room, and a laptop repair store. Thanks for your help in advance. indiana
Is $250 the original asking price? In my opinion, every deal has room for negotiation. Overall, though, it sounds like a safe bet at a relatively low investment level--so you can definitely get your feet wet. Assuming these locations reliably hit $20/month (you've verified the owner's income somehow, right?), and understanding your net return will likely be around 50 percent, you should break even in approximately 8 months. This is reasonable. I'd offer $150 with an expectation of meeting in the middle at $200. Ultimately, if you're comfortable with the price and are genuinely interested in trying it out--I would definitely say go for it! Let us know how it turns out either way. I'm not a Vendstar advocate, but no more cash than that is I would take a chance. Offer something close to what Indiana said. If after a couple services, you decide that you like it, then get some single head machines, build you a triple and put some toys in the Chinese place. Your income will probably double at that spot or maybe even triple. Are there other machines there? Is there commission involved? That may change things a little bit, but I would still try it. The Chinese places seem to do well.
ransom
Cool. This is very helpful folks. I am going to visit the locations tomorrow and if I like the machines and locations, then I will bargain with this guy. Not sure if he is paying commission but I will definitely find out! Thanks again!
