abvendingllc
Has anyone tried to offer a giveaway prize in a bulk vending capsule. I am just starting out in the bulk vending business and I have 7 triples placed so far. I was wondering if anyone has tried or is it legal to offer a prize such as a Ten dollar gift card if someone gets a 1 inch capsule that has info to redeem the prize, such as a phone number and code to make it legit. Also to make it work a sign would need to be placed on the machine describing the giveaway?
FNA Vending
Hello, I actually do that. I place a capsule with a coupon in at each fill. They are all at pizza shops. I basically talk to owners, pay for a small pizza at a discounted price, and then place a sign above the machine. It works very well with teenagers... Not sure if its considered gambling??? Smiley
This was discussed at an NBVA convention a long time ago. It was the position of the association that we didn't want our machines to be considered gambling devices. So the guidelines given to the members at the time was that every customer should get something (i.e. a gumball) and the most expensive prize should be worth no more than 10 times the purchase price. FNA, I guess in a broad sense it is gambling. But, any machine where there are toys in the machines of different values it is technically gambling too. At the time, I cared more about such things. But most municipalities don't seem to care much about cranes and stackers and other machines that are clearly gambling.
Dmkraz
But most municipalities don't seem to care much about cranes and stackers and other machines that are clearly gambling. In Massachusetts if there's an element of skill then it's often not gambling, so cranes clearly have some skill to them and are fine but a random capsule with high value doesn't. It gets pretty crazy, for example slot machines (I think even for personal home use) have buttons to individually stop each wheel which is legal because of the skill (yeah right!) of stopping each wheel where you want it.
