wheelermj
Does anyone on here currently operate a Micro Market? I have a few locations that I think would do great with a Micro Market. My main one would be a 26 floor office building that requires badge access to get into, and has a couple thousand employees. My main bay of machines in that building has 7 machines, most of which are filled daily. I would like to replace those machines with a Micro Market. The main company I have looked at is Avanti, but I wanted to see if anyone on here has any experience with these markets. Thanks
AZVendor
One of my customers has begun rolling out a micro market format into some of his larger white collar location. He has removed vending machines and taken the same space for the market. He will put in the kiosk and cameras, then 3 or 4 shelf units along with a cooler for drinks and one for cold food items. Your location as described should be a prime candidate. I can't remember his provider; the one he uses is out of San Diego. He can't use Avanti as they already have a major regional vendor using them here and he wants to differentiate himself. The only drawback to his supplier is that the kiosk has no provisions for accepting coins or paying change. He has a basic card swiper and a Mars bill acceptor, but if someone uses bills, they can't get any change back. Micro markets can cost as much to implement as a bank of vending machines, but the sales lift is pretty good and pilferage is not bad. The kiosks can cost upwards of $6000 (cost of a food machine) then you have to purchase proprietary shelving and then obtain good quality glass door coolers. My customer has had a good sales lift from the ability to merchandise a greater variety of products and apply penny pricing to them. He continues to install more markets and is even marketing them instead of just converting his locations. If you're serious about implementing this, you should go to the NAMA show in Vegas next month, April 24-26. There will be a ton of panel discussions and vendors displaying micro markets as it's the next big thing in Automatic Merchandising.
TKK
Is a micro market like the kiosks at the mall that sell snacks and cokes?

wheelermj
Thanks for the feedback. I have talked with Avanti and 365 retail markets, the Kiosks with Avanti are closer to $8500 and $15 a week per kiosk plus transaction fees. I don't know how much the kiosk for 365 is, but they want to charge close to $400 a month per location plus transaction fees. So far, these are the only twoI hae really talked to, but I am planning on going to the OneShow and talk to all of the different providers of Micro Markets, I just wanted to see if anyone one here is having any success or failure with them yet, and who you are using. Is a micro market like the kiosks at the mall that sell snacks and cokes? A micro market is basically a self check out convenience store. It is usually placed in a secure office or building not open to the public to minimize theft.
