adog
I just wanted to say hi to everyone in the forum. Anyways I finally took the plunge and just bought two new machines off ebay for I think a decent price. A little more then buying them used off Craigslist but I think they should be easier to maintain and land some new locations. I bought two double heads. Gunna be vending gumballs out of one and Peanut M&M's out of the other. Anyways today I talked to a guy who is selling his route and said he might be willing to break it up. He wants 150 a machine. I am guessing alot of vendstars but he has some 1-800, vendesign and a few other machine types. Some of the locations included restaurants, bars, auto shops, beauty saloons, and office buildings. What would you try to offer him per location. I think the vendstars are over priced even for the location. I can pick those things up dirt cheap off of craiglist. What do you guy's think? Erosenlieb
VendStars = 20 bucks give or take a few 1-800s = 30-50 bucks depending on condition Vendesign = 20-50 depending on condition Locations = 50 bucks and no more This is my personal rule when i buy anything in life. I will never pay more for something if i can do it myself cheaper. So to me a VendStar location is worth about 50 bucks to me and a 1-800 is worth no more than 100. Just my opinion
Rick
Useless to respond without numbers. Is it worth giving him $150 a location? Well, if it's a $60 a month loc I'd pay him $250 for that with a completely decimated vendstar because I'm not buying the machine I'm buying the location. But $4-$5 a month and it's worth no more than the machine itself. Also in my experience, Erosenlieb's values are lowball. 1-800's are routinely bought and sold for $75-$120 in my area. But his area may just be more saturated than mine. For $150 location I'd want to see and verify $20+ average monthly gross at bare minimum. shepherdsflock
I'm with Rick on the 1800 value, especially if they have 50 cent coin mechanisms. They're good machines. Vendstars I'd go $40 if they're in very good shape or in a very good location. I have a beat up old vendstar with all of the chute doors missing and the spill tray busted off that brings in $50-60 month at one location and another that does about $40 per month. Doubles can be a good way to start. Triple head setups usually end up with one or two products that sell very well and one that doesn't. I personally would order both heads with gumball wheels and sell gumballs out of one head and 1" capsule toys out of the other.

I just bought 12 1-800s for about 35 a pop. I have a guy that calls me about once a month trying to unload his 300 or so vendstars. His last contact was 10 for 100. I also bought my first route for 700 bucks and it had to racks with it. The ROI on that route was less than 2 months. I might just be the cheapest person alive but if i cant sell it for more than i buy it for i let it go.
VendingWife74
I'd stay away from vendstars- very cheap but If it's working at the location then good. That's just my opinion. BUT busy Vends with a cheap machine you are more likely to have more problems. I'd go northwestern. 60s, super 60s, or 80s. Start out right and you won't regret it. Vendstars would be more of a slam machine. - not saying you should go in and start out slamming- I don't condone or recommend that, but what I'm saying is, it is a machine you wouldn't miss or have your neck stuck out on. I'm with Rick. You are buying the location not the machine. Take EVERYTHING in consideration. People, place, placement... Take a chance. Happy vending!!! - Danielle
