Bill and Coin Counters

Recommended Posts

Looking for advice on easy to use but also inexpensive counters.

What'cha using and why?

Get the better ones used - the cheap plastic ones will cost you more in the long run. I use the mid range Scan Coin 303 coin counter and the 865 bill counter but there are several similar brands available. I started with a cheap coin counter - it took me about three service cycles to learn to really hate that pile of crap. They might be okay for the top of your dresser but they won't do the volume you'll be looking at in vending.

Why don't you guys just take it to your bank and have them do it for free?

Is this a serious response? Do you do the "one for me, one for you" kinda math? Some of us like to track $$ by machine. I'm not going to take many bank bags to the bank and ask them to count them and give me individual totals. My bank will count too, but I like to have an idea what I'm giving them. I'm going to pretend like you're being silly.

Well as you seperate your money in different bags or whatever i can just put mine in the machine at the bank, then print it out, then repeat. So you literally do the exact same thing and have a receipt. And saves you money from buying a counter. So yes. It was a serious response.

I was mainly pulling your chain. Around here you won't find a bank with a "customer-use" machine. They do it all behind the counter. Sounds like you're talking about a Coinstar machine. I'm not gonna pay a percentage for the use of that. So....I prefer to just run it myself.

Oh, well mines not a coinstar. Just a huge coin counting machine. I bet if you only had a few bags they wouldn't mind keeping them seperate to let you know the totals. But once you get a lot that would make sense to buy a counter if you weren't as lucky as me

The bank I used to deal with had one in the lobby. What a POS, it never was right, always short. The tellers told me I had to use it because they weren't allowed to accept coins. After using it twice I told them before I used it again I would change banks. After about a month I changed banks.

Capital One will not take any change unless it is rolled, as for putting a coin counter in lobby, I was told not to hold my breath for that! Looks like I need to find a better bank!

Bank of America forces me (at least at my local branch) to put all my change in bags. They take it and count it off-site. The deposit shows up in 48-72 hours and appears to be accurate. And they give me the right bags to use. My bank broad loves me.

On another note.....#Mizzou sucks. If they're not careful, Colorado State is gonna take them to the wood shed. LOL

When I started out, I had to search around to even find a bank that would take more than $2,500 a month in any kind of cash without charging you an extra fee. I finally ended up with Chase - they'll accept up to $25,000 a month ( unfortunately I'm not there yet) but it better be wrapped - they will give you the coin and bill wrappers though.

It's a darn good thing those dollar coins flopped or I'd need a forklift to make my deposits and be looking for a bank with a loading dock.

Like most vendors, I track each machines sales separately so it's not a matter of just making one big count. With the right counting equipment, I can count and wrap the money for each machine at the rate of about $3,000 per hour.

We have quite a few different banks in this small town I live in, I've been with this bank before it was bought out by C.O. I did find a very busy convince store that will take all my change count it and give me green cash back! I love it! Not into collage basketball, nascar is my game. Not a LSU fan either. Tomorrow will be a very busy day for me, it's been a little warm down here so my soda machines will need tending! Heck Yea!
