Dan Guy
As previousy posted, to surprise my son and resident claw machine I bought a used "Action Claw" machine (with "AC-1 Rev A" main board). He loved it. Unfortunately, the controls stopped working last month. Expected behavior: * user inserts money * first button (back arrow) lights up * user presses first button, releasing it when the claw is in place along the first axis * second button (right arrow) lights up * user presses first button, releasing it when the claw is in place along the second axis * claw drops * claw raises * claw returns to the prize slot and opens Current behavior: * user inserts money * nothing happens * if the first button is pressed, a loud click issues from within the cabinet I have made a short video illustrating the issue: I am not as electronically inclined as I would like to be, so I have no idea where to start. If anyone can give me suggestions or point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative.
dogcow
the hum is probably coming off the power supply the button click sound is just the sound of the switch. that is normal. get out ur multi meter and use the continuity function to make sure the switches are working right. its entirely possible the switches are bad. make sure the machine is OFF when doing continuity testing. refer to your multimeter manual for specific directions on using the continuity function
Dan Guy
the button click sound is just the sound of the switch. that is normal. Is the switch part of the button or something on the board? The click sound is distinct from the mechanical click of the button, much louder and coming from the board. get out ur multi meter and use thecontinuity function to make sure the switches are working right. its entirely possible the switches are bad. make sure the machine is OFF when doing continuity testing. refer to your multimeter manual for specific directions on using the continuity function I don't have a multimeter. If I get one will it be clear how to use it? Hoping that it might just be a bad switch, I swapped the two switches to no avail. Either both went bad simultaneously or the problem is elsewhere. dogcow
the loud clicking noise from the board is most likely a relay i would test those too. they usually sit in a socket that can be removed if they are soldered directly to the board it might be tricky for your to replace them if you dont know how to solder the multi meter comes with directions if u cant figure it out just go on google or youtube there are MANY good tutorials on how to use a multi meter. if you plan to work on this stuff yourself y=you pretty much have to know how to use one.
