2 coke machines $900 Model # RVCC660-9 good deal or not

Recommended Posts

The price is good if they are complete, working and cooling. These are GIII machines with 12 columns and 9 selections. The vending mechanism is run by the GIII chain drive system and is pretty reliable. A lot of the folks on the boards here are quite fond of the GIII machines. Be sure to check them for any asset tags left by the local Coke bottler; they can be in a variety of places. If you find an asset tag - which is different than the serial number plate on the door - you then need to call Coca Cola to be sure they don't still own the machine. If you just want to make sure that these are truely supposed to be on the used market, then you can call the Coke vending department and give them the serial numbers off the plates on the outside edge of the door and they should be able to tell you if they still own the machines.

I agree that these are good machines, especially for that price, but I'm biased towards the Royal machines anyway.

I am confused on something here though. To me these look exactly like the 804's I own and the 660 I have has the "wave front" with the can buttons and every Royal machine around here matches that profile. Is this just a regional thing? I know that Royal makes some of their models with different fronts but am having second thoughts as to my ability to ID a model just by it's looks.

Either way, 660s or 804s (even better), would be a good start as long as Billy makes sure they don't have any major problems like Ruff encountered. Donut also took awhile to get his 804 up and running, but then he got it dirt cheap so he had some margin.

Billy,

I prefer these machines over the other brands (Dixie and Vendo) and the price on them is very good. I own about a dozen of them and have never had any problems with them in the 3 years I've been using them.

That said, we do have a couple of members, Ruff in particular, that bought them with some problems. My advice would be to download the Royal manuals before you go to look at these so you can "put them through their paces" before you buy them rather than finding out they need new control boards or something after the fact.

If they're in good shape it'll be a solid start for you.

Yes, check them out thoroughly. I checked mine over and vended it a few times with change, however when i got it back home i retested everything and then the control board went out.

Waiting on a new one for almost 2 1/2 weeks now, apparently D & S repair techs went on vacation and i won't have it back till the beginning of April.

But other then that the GIII seem like very good machines.

Yes, the problem with identifying a Royal machine is that they have so many door styles they build for Coke that they can't be id'd by the door style at all. You have to have the model number or be able to view the insides of the machine. The door in Billy's pic could be a GII, GIII, Merlin 4, etc. The model number he gave, if correct, is for a GIII but if he's going off what the seller says, he needs to check them out for himself to confirm it.

It took me a while to get my 804 working right (turns out I had a short in a wire) bit now that I have it figured out..... Have to agree with mooning..... Great machines. Wish I could find a deal like that one.....
