adog
I just got my first location in which hopefully I will be placing my first machine tomorrow. I know bulk vending is a numbers game like most business but maybe even more in this business. Just curious how many Peanut M&M's- Skittles- Runts- Mike & Ikes- do you vend? I already figure for Runts about 11 since they are so cheap but not sure about the others. Before any member says, "GO CHECK OUT OTHER FORUMS" I have tried to search and can not find anything. I remember seeing a comment or two through all the forums I have read on here but even in the beginners bulk vending thread I could not find it! Thanks! Any other candy's would be interesting to hear about as well.
treadmill
Check out the download section. There is a excel program that tells you how many of each candy per half ounce.
Rick
I just got my first location in which hopefully I will be placing my first machine tomorrow. Any other candy's would be interesting to hear about as well. PMM - I shoot for an avg. of 6 pieces (3/5 oz per vend). Skittles - 1/2 oz = 14 pieces, .7oz = 20 pieces and 1 oz = 27 pieces. On my 1-800 if I run "full-open" for Skit it's usually about 19 pieces/vend or .7oz. Runts - .5 oz = 11pc and 1oz = 22 pc so my 1-800's full-open vend 14 pc or roughly .65oz per vend. M&I - .5oz = 8-9 pc and 1oz = 17-18 pc . I vend 12-13 pc or .7oz. Most will tel you this is in the very upper-range of what you'll want to vend. I think it's probably better to shoot for 1/2oz on Skit and M&I, but I'm still completing the 3-month trial run on the vast majority of my locations. I'll probably tighten everything up a peg throughout the summer. Reeses Pieces are 1/2oz of 16-17pc and 1oz = 33pc. I generally shoot for a 1/2 oz. Hope that helps. adog
Thanks Rick! I really appreciate the insight. I'll probably be aiming more towards the .5oz to maximize profits without ripping people off. Trying to get my best return on my investments without the candy going stale. Will see what my machines can vend consistently.
shepherdsflock
I try to avoid Peanut M&Ms. They're expensive and don't have the greatest shelf life. I only do them if the location requests it.

You're sort of damned if ya do and damned if ya don't with PMM. I've found that if I avoid vending PMM I'm just cutting off my nose to spite my face. Yes, PMM's are expensive (42.5% COG for me vending 6 pieces) but at 15 of my 33 locations, PMM are responsible for at least 50% of sales in my triples. So would I rather do $7 in PMM (netting $4.06 or do $4 in Hot Tamales at 30% COG and netting $2.80? And with the way PMM sell I've never once had to worry about their shelf life. That's just me. I agree with you though, if you have a location where you can do comparable business with HT, M&I and Skittles then by all means. But for me, I'd be leaving too much on the table without PMM.
