Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out my profit margins and want to make sure my candy amounts are correct.  I have the following:

Skittles - 54oz bag -1,350 pieces

Reeses Pieces - 48oz bag - 1,632 pieces

Mike n Ikes - 72oz bag - 1,173 pieces

Could you guys verify?  Thanks!

Use a scale and way your vend qauntity. Then divide bag weight by the vend weight to determine the number of vends per bag, then multiply by.25 to get gross revenue per bag.

WAY quicker than counting peices.

Can't say that I have ever counted pieces before.

I did way back in the day.  I'm sure I still have it in a notebook somewhere.  Don't sell but a little chocolate now.  I'd rather have lower sales and not do any chocolate or sticky crap like hot toms.

Wow that is impressive!  May I ask how long this took?

but candy is sold by the lb.

so you need to see where your candy wheels are set and how much drops for each vend.

but each piece is a slightly different size, so you would have to do a general test of several machines and get the average of those vends. so you go to each machines and get several vends and wieght the vends on a mail scale one at a time. get yourself some of those 2 oz portion cups for this, cause some candy rolls. and dont forget to zero out the cup wieght too.

I didn't actually count all the pieces myself.  These numbers are from various places I found online, that's why I wanted to see if you guys had these same numbers.  I'm going to buy a scale and weigh out my portions in order to determine COGS.  Thanks for the input!
