ruff84 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I have a machine not giving the correct amount of change all the time. I have to items set at $ .50 and when a dollar is entered and product dispensed the machine is only giving .25 back instead of $.50. But if I open and close the door it gives back the other $ .25 (or .50 if 2 .50 purchases have been made since i last opened the machine.) I don't know yet if it does this everytime or just on occation. I don't have another coin mech on hand to switch out to try and see if its the coin mech or something else causing the issue. Do you think its the mech or something else?
treadmill Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Are your coin tubes filled to the desired levels to make them work properly?
AZVendor Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Check the coin return collector, tray, cup below the coin mech and be sure it's clean. Most of these areas get ignored because the coin mech covers them and as they get built up with dust and dirt, the coins won't easily slide out. You may also have a coin payout problem. Manually pay quarters out and listen to each one to see if the coin mech has trouble dispensing a coin or fails to do so. If this is the case then the coin mech needs to be rebuilt due to wear in the payout assembly. I offer exchanges of coin mechs for $85 plus you old mech back, if you need one.

I realize that they cost money but it will save you a lot of time in the long run. Sometimes you can just swap the heads (acceptor mechanism) but I find that the payout mechanism in the bottom usually goes first. If it's gummed up you might be able to clean it with rubbing alcohol from the bottom.
ruff84 Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 I normally do, but another machine had issues so my spare Mech is used and I my broken is currently on route to being fixed. I actually fixed this problem. It would take 4-5 Vends of the .50 items before a malfunction. I notices that the quarter would come out of the bottom of the mech but lodge against the metal slide that goes to the coin return. The coin mech was only held on by 1 screw on the back and the bottom of he coin mech was angled to the left very slightly. I added another screw in the back and made sure it is level and it works like a charm. I think the door shutting was enough of a jolt that it was knocking the returned coins loose from their stuck position.

It can be a pain getting all three screws lined up as you can't see what you're doing but all the ones I've seen are like that.
