FrCorey Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 there used to be a series of vending machines that had a option for a remote service device. so you could go up to your machine and use the onboard computer to get stats and change prices and test the system. I dont think the remote option sold too well. but I am sure some did. so my point is, Always change the vendors computer service password! also good for the ones where you can test it by using the buttons on the front. like the ones you see on youtube, where they press like 1324 and get a free soda, and stuff. these are all stock passwords. someone got a hold of some manuals or learned this from a friend. for the remote controllers, you can look inside for a attenna of some sorts. or if you have a freq counter, you can see if the vendor is broadcasting a signal. a lot of people buy used vendors and dont think about this.
Walta Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I am aware of a few machines you can read the sales meters with the door closed beyond that I am skeptical. If anyone knows of a machine that can be manipulated in the way FrCorey describes please post the make, model and a link to the manual with page number describing the menus available with the door closed. AZVendor Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 No machines manufactured with the capability of accessing sales figures from outside the door are going to allow any other programming, free vending, price changing, etc. from outside the door. The sales figure reading option can be simply turned off within the configuration options to prevent outside reading of numbers. If a machine allows programming from outside the door when the door is closed then the door switch is bad or, more likely, wired backwards so that when the door is closed, the logic board thinks it is open and in the service mode. The only thing that can access the machine wirelessly would be a device designed to work with a matching aftermarket data receiver already mounted inside the machine. Even if a device was plugged into the dex socket from outside the door, it would only be able to read the dex data, not perform any programming.
