beejaykc aka Munch A Bunch Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Well....getting my first 3rd party machine with Coke up and running tomorrow. Machine delivered yesterday. Of course.....without a lock. Need to pick that up along with the product and install it myself I guess. Any idea how difficult this install will be? It's a Royal 660-9. Looks brand new....although shows some interior signs of a refurb. No big deal to me - it looks awesome. They've got the pricing all set up for me. They even labeled the selections. All I have to do is load the changer, add the lock, load the machine......and WHAM......get hit with something I've missed. Can hardly wait for that to happen. LOL I have to look for the manual online......just so I have it when the WHAM happens.
TKK Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Barrel locks take exactly 2.5 seconds to install. on a hot day
mission vending Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 on a hot day I thought that was on a cold day.

AZVendor Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Coke should at least include a standard Coke core lock so that the machine is secure on location. If the coin mech or any other part disappears before you get to the machine that would be Coke's problem.
Lake Cities Vending Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 The last 3 machines I got didn't have locks. I'm wondering what to do if I decide to have them pick them up. They aren't real fast at getting pickups done.

My rep tells me they'll provide me a lock.............but I have to ask. We'll see how that goes. Probably something like this: Who are you? What machine? Who said you could have a lock? Who's he? That'll be $25. Who said you could have it for free? Who's he? Let me ask my manager. Who are you? What machine? Who said you could have a lock? Who's he? That'll be $35.

mission vending Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Get your own lock - you have no idea how many people have that Coke lock Exactly. The only reason I keep "coke locks" around is that if I call in a service call and don't have time to meet the tech I will swap it back in so he can access the machine without me there. On my next visit I put my lock back in.
AZVendor Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I am surprised that more than one bottler won't supply core locks with the machines they deliver; maybe that's something that now has to be requested by vendors. They are to secure the machine and for the vendor to use if they want (not very smart as the key will be very common), and then when you use your own locks (very smart) you will have the bottler core to put in it for a service call. I would never give my key to a bottler, I would only require them to supply core locks. Here in Arizona, all the bottlers use core locks with varying codes, but provide the keys when needed to the vendors. No machines are ever delivered by them without locks. I have even had customers that have been surprised by locks in delivered machines that they have to go to the bottler to get a key. There are only a handful of cores used by them and if you're in the business long enough, you will see them all. I still have some obscure codes that Coke used to use around here years ago and for service calls I have about 12 different codes on keys that customers might have in their machines among all the keys I carry.
