VendingExperts Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Just trying to establish perceived value. I had a soccer establishment contact me today about placing a double head machine in their location. I asked them what items they would like to choose given the opportunity and explained the possible choices. They picked soccer ball themed gumballs and soccer bouncy balls. I know that 27mm bouncy balls have about the same profit margin as candy and gum. How much do other people vend bouncy balls for? Also in a soccer establishment is there a higher perceived value of a soccer themed bouncy ball. I used the example of .50 and selling 10/ month or .25 and selling 20. (.50x10)-(.05x10)=$4.50 or (.25x20)-(.05x20)=$4.00 My dilemma is to vend at .25 or .50?

Vend the 27mm bouncy balls at .50 (You will sell a lot more than 10/month) I don't think it is such a good idea to have soccer themed gumballs next to a non food item of the same theme. This is just asking for a child to choke on the bouncy ball.

This is just asking for a child to choke on the bouncy ball.Yeah I had already given it some thought. Here are they factors though... The gumballs will be at .25 and also be clearly gumballs by the gumball display card, the bb will require 2 quarters and have a choking warning sticker. Even for a kid, I think this should be an easy one to figure out. I will also put a label "bouncy balls" on that machine. When the kid asks the parent for another quarter a flag will/should be raised! I already discussed the hazard with the owner and he said they don't have many kids in the store under 5 and was adimant those were the choices he wanted.
antoniocinisi Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 you shouldn't give the location choices on the selections or on the price point.bouncy cost more then gum
VendingExperts Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 you shouldn't give the location choices on the selections or on the price point.bouncy cost more then gumI don't ever discuss cog or price point with customers. However, I do give them a list of GB, Skittles, M&M'S, PMM, Mike&Ike's, Runts, Reese Pieces, BB, or random 1" toy. I allow them to pick 2 of those items. I was actually the one that recommended the soccer bouncy balls and his response then was yeah and do they have soccer gb's too? That's what I want! I feel that I don't have a problem with the offerings that I give them and it makes them feel like they are more of a customer that is receiving service.
VendingExperts Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 Well I delivered the soccer machine today, I was able to do soccer bouncy balls and bk pink gb's. machines are clearly labeled! Thanks for the input.
