ronsidney Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 dhgate has good knockoffs of stuff like beats by dre that you cant get on alibaba..but most everything else on dhgate is on ali also.. i buy parts for machines on ali and i placed a large order for the music activated EL tshirts im gonna be selling on 4th of July at local event.. I seen them at Vegas in a booth and thought of the idea to sell them at local 4th of july celebration where they shoot fireworks and have live music etc on TN river... A few years ago the local boys scouts where selling the light stick type necklaces there and the local troop leader had told me they sold 2000 of them for $5 each before they ran out.. I remember the night as i bought about 8 of them for my kids,every kid and adult there had them it seemed ,the whole hill side was just glowing with all the light up necklaces.. So when i seen these EL light up shirts the *ding dong* went off in my head about setting up a booth.. the shirts are music activated and retail for about $20-30 bucks, i got them on ali for $4.50 plus freight or $6.25 each total,, got a thousand of them for this event, hope i sell them all $20 each.. My partner on storage units went in with me as we where gonna plan a vacation together with our families this year and i told him instead of using the 6-7K we had in the storage account for the vacation we could "double down" and get 15 to 20! then take the whole families to Europe or Bahamas or something instead of the usual US vacation we do.. Wish us luck! We both agreed the money we made on this storage unit was gonna be used for our vacations, He is my best friend (really brother as he grew up in my house as his parents where never around) and we built the storages out of pocket with no debt. ron
musser Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 My Wife has sold glow stuff for years at the pyro shows we shoot. Never gets old. The light up shirts will be a killer for you Ron. You need to get card readers for your phones (if you dont already have them). You will kick your event sales through the roof if you can take cards.

People care alot more about giving actual dollar bills away as to swiping the plastic
ronsidney Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 got 4 squares for our iphones,,kenny and his wife have verizon as they live in west tn and att is not so good, and me and my wife have att cause i do alot of biz in KY and verizon is not so good there.. So between the two we should have good data on one of the carriers, and either me or kenny can turn on hotspot on our phones so we will have all 4 phones ready for credit cards.. Im gonna charge them $2 bucks to use their cards also,of course if they fuss too much ill cave and just eat it to make sale, but hoping that will drive cash sales.. Years ago (94-96) I used to sell fireworks. I had 3 tents in 96 and I know how crazy 4th of july is.. I would sit in that tent from 20th of june to 3rd of july not doing squat, then on the 4th it was a madhouse. I quit the fireworks when it got so competitive it wasn't worth it and after i went full time in vending and then i would always spend all my extra cash on vending equipment and didn't invest in anything else. My first year in 94 i had a wooden shack 6' by 12' with back wall as shelves and fold up front doors..I borrowed 2K from local bank against my fishing boat..I made 6K profit on that 2K in two weeks! my first wife was pregnant with my oldest boy at the time and blew that dough on nursery stuff in about 5 minutes though. ron
