Albert Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 When most operators decide they need new machines are they more likely to buy new machines or do they look for used machines? If new, are machines from China viewed as inferior? If buying used, what search engines are best to use? Thanks
orsd Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Small operators are more likely to get used Large ones like new Chinese import machines are not good exept for the ones sold by aa global Personally I like craigslist for used equipment
jwhutt Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I'm just starting so I guess I'm a small operator. How much should I expect to pay for a good used machine that I don't have to spend a lot of time and money to refurbish? Thanks
orsd Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 25-30 if it doesn't need repairs A few bucks more if its brand new Less if it needs some parts A lot less if it needs paint This figure may be more or less depending on market in your area SoCal where I live has a good market so sometimes they are a lot cheaper Keep in mind that a new machine is around 50-60
jwhutt Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 OK, that's good information. The best brand new machines I was able to find were a little under $50. I guess it makes more $ sense to buy used.
orsd Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Oak, aa global, and eagle are the cheapest to buy new and are mostly interchangeable parts wise

LandJGroup Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I bought new for five plus years. Then I found out there is excellent used equipnent for half the price. With the way equipment depriciates the smart money buys used.
jwhutt Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 When you buy used where do you get spare and replacement parts from? Are they hard to come by? Thanks
sweetstop Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I can't help always looking to see what's out there I have not had to buy new yet, except for a few rhinos which I don't recommend, while they are all metal import machines the coin mechs are junk I have more used equipment than I can get out right now

orsd Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 replacement parts can be acquired from the mfg aa global copies oak eagel and nw so they have parts for those
VendingExperts Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I prefer new. I use it as a selling point to the business owner. Business owners appreciate a new machine or an old one with new paint, they have seen plenty old and shabby ones!
mjacks Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I am starting to standardize my whole route to NW for all the bulk machines. When I bought the business 5 years ago the previous owner had a least one machine from every manufacturer that ever existed and it has been a pain in the rear. It looked bad with a bunch of different machines on the same rack and my key chain weighs 10+ lbs with all the different locks. I am refurbing all the NW stuff and selling off everything else slowing but surely and replacing with NW stuff. I really want to simplify my business as much as I can. If you are starting out, try and stick to 1 or 2 kinds of machines as you grow so you don't end up where I started.
dkochan Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I have bought most of my machines used from deals I have found on Craig's List. I buy new machines as needed. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2

Just starting out I bought as many good deals I could find on Craigslist. Unfortunately I had to spend extra money because I did not have the same parts as my other machines had. Now I am focusing on all eagle,Oak, and new AA's. And vendstars for candy (I know don't hate!!!) because they are so cheap. OAK/Eagle have just about all interchangeable parts. And My next step is to get all the same locks for my machines to. And yes I have 30 different keys unfortunately and if I ever loose my key ring I am screwed!!!
