jerry1973 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 I have been into vending now for a little over a month, and my largest account is a scrap metal yard with 3 soda machines and a snack machine. They have been averaging about $80 per machine per week. So my wife was at the bank today and noticed a couple guys behind her and somehow it became known that they work at the largest scrap metal yard in this area. So she asked them if they had vending and they said that they have 1 soda machine and its a long walk to get to it and they were saying how everyone wants a machine or machines and even the customers have been mentioning it. They told her to go talk to the manager tomorrow and that we could probably do it just because so many people have been asking about it with the summer heat in full swing. This place is 3x larger than my current account and could easily be a 2 trip a week service. Luckily I live only about 2 miles from it. I'm stoked, wish me luck!!

It would be a perfect set-up for a couple of large stacker style machines so you're not servicing so often. Beejay, who's in Kansas City, says that good used machines are scarce so I'm not sure what your ability is to find such equipment at a reasonable price. I can tell you that the bottler supplied glassfront machines have a very limited capacity unless you're selling bottles only - they suck for cans.
jerry1973 Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 Thanks guys.. I was kinda thinking I would start investing in my own bottle machines, but I also wasn't expecting to get anymore accounts this quick, however its not such a bad thing. My scap yard that i have now is a really dusty dirty place and the machines take a beating, and that might not be a place I would want my own investment dollars going anyway, so it might be better to call coke or pepsi or both if this comes to reality.
orsd Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 And if they "accidentally" drop it into the shredder, then at least its coke's machine and you'll only lose some change and sodas

Good luck in your area!
