Golfdogs Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 This machine has been on location for 4.5 years with little trouble. Recently, (last 6 weeks) the display has been reading coins only and doesn't accept anything. I changed the coin mech (TRC 6000) and the same thing. I've found that turning the machine on and off resets everything. I've looked at the lighting in the machine (led bulb) and the the surrounding lights and I see no flickering. We have been having storms, but I see no decernable pattern emerging. Fortunately, this machine is located at my wife's work and she has a key to reset at will! (Although she says she has better things to do!) Any thoughts?

(Although she says she has better things to do!) Any thoughts? I'm thinking control board. The fact that you can turn it off and back on to reset would rule out a bad battery. I'd check the power supply as well since you've been having storms. I used to have a 145 set up with a TRC 6000 and a VN2511 but I never had the problem you're decribing - my first guess would have been the coin mech too. Seems like the board is not "listening" to the mech unless you wake it up. I have been told that the right hand hinge configuration is hard on the BA harness but that's not a symptom of your problem.
AZVendor Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 You might have a bad lower sensor in your nickle tube that occasionally won't detect the coins. Low nickles will trigger the Coins Only condition, and powering off and on forces the machine to test all the motors and peripherals and then picks up the lower sensor. A bad battery on the board won't cause this as it would only lose the prices. The fix is to replace the coin mech. Do you have a spare or would you need an exchange mech? I have these in stock.

I think he swapped out the mech AZ - was this machine MDB (24v) ? I had one but can't remember and my mech and Ba were 120v

I've got two more on my van. I'll try swapping them again.
Mooman333 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I have one of these machines. It will read "COINS ONLY" when the door is open. Make sure that the door is closing all the way and tripping the sensor correctly. I always put my knee into the lower section of the door when closing to make sure the latch engages correctly. You may need to just adjust your latching mech. I and some nuts come loose once that made this happen. A board failing is pretty rare from what i have heard... it is always the last thing i try when looking for the solution to the problem.
