donut Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Anyone know where I can get 1 coil (smaller coil for gum, etc) for a FSI 3141 inexpensive?
moondog Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Anyone know where I can get 1 coil (smaller coil for gum, etc) for a FSI 3141 inexpensive? AZ Vendor would probably have them - I've got some 3014 coils sitting here but you have to be careful with USI/FSI - a lot of their stuff only fits one model. The 3014 coils won't fit the 3014A machines (coils rub against the tray dividers). Tel him you need a candy coil and give him the pitch count (number of spaces you want)
AZVendor Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 I was just replying as moondog posted. Donut, I need the serial number of the machine for this upgrade. Moondog is correct that not all parts are interchangeable. The only way to to gum/mint in USI machines is with a special motor, spiral, helix tube and some other parts to hold it all together. Do you have snap-in motors with a hitch pin connecting the spiral to the motor shaft?
donut Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Serial #108522399285. The top 3 trays are larger (probably around a 3" diameter), so I'm guessing that they're for chips, etc. the bottom 2 trays are smaller (more like 2" diameter), so I'm assuming that they're gum, mints, etc.... maybe they're just for smaller snacks and not gum? These particular coils look like they will hold 12 items each.... I will look at the thing tonight after work to let you know if they are snap-in motors with a hitch pin that connects the spiral to the motor shaft.... Also, where do I find the labels that go on the tray? The current labels (the long black ones with "A1, A2, etc) that go across the whole tray look kind of beat up, so I was going to replace them as well... Is it just easier to make labels using a Brother P-Touch labelmaker?

Your two bottom trays are for candy bars and nuts - twelve pitch is standard. The gum/mint tray is a whole different animal - this would be your "G" tray if you even have one. I see a lot of machines where the gum/mint tray has been removed - I don't think they sell very well anymore. Be careful when working with these trays - you can cut your finger off on some of the "unfinished" edges.

Its easier to get on straight when you peel the backing paper and put the sticker edge on a knife tip and then apply so you can get your fingers out of the way.
donut Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Cool. Sounds like this might not cost me so much after all.... Can the trays be interchanged? That is, can the candy bar/nut trays be moved to the top and the top trays moved tot he bottom? Not like I really care, I'm going to sell this thing when I get it all done, but was just curious..... You know, It's times like these that I really appreciate this forum.... I don't know something about a machine, put it out there, get responses back, problem solved.... It's times like these that make me think that one day, if you're ever in my neck of the woods, you should stop by and buy me lunch.... Man, am I cheap frugal.....

Yes they can be switched around, just unplug the harness (turn off machine first) and move them around if that's what you want.
donut Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 Ok, here are a couple of pics showing the coil that I need....
moondog Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Ok, here are a couple of pics showing the coil that I need.... IMAG0381 (Copy).jpg IMAG0382 (Copy).jpg Yup - they sure look like coils alright. As you may have noticed, a slightly larger coil (like the ones I have) will not fit - you need one that fits your machine and it needs to be CW (clock wise). The pain in the butt here is that the shipping will run you more than the coil will cost. You've got the cotter pin and the hub but you should check that the motor works - it's SOP for many vendors to pull the coil if the motor goes bad (so they don't keep stocking things that people can't get)

If you are going to order tge auger make sure its all you need first so you don't pay shipping twice.
donut Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 Already did a motor check of all the motors... they all seemed to work. Now the question is, where do I get one inexpensive?

AZVendor Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 donut, There is no gum/mint assy available any longer for this model of machine. The kit is obsolete. If you need a spiral I can send you a 12 ct candy spiral for you for $15 and there are also selection number strips available for each shelf as well for $9 each (they look much nicer than a label maker). Let me know if you need any of these items.
