ondeckdean Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I have two old soda machines one is a Vendo 601 that I would like to bring into the 21st century from a bill acceptance standpoint. Can I replace the tired old bill acceptor with a Mars 2501 or the like? I have another one that I would like to make the transition too. I'm not sure of the machine type though. I do remember one of them has an Ardac bill acceptor but I'm not sure if that's what's in the Vendo.
moondog Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 The Vendo 601 is not radically old and should accept any bill acceptor - I use the Mei Vn2511 in mine. As for the Ardac, that's a very old validator and should be replaced. I've had these in some of my older Micro Mech machines (but not for long) - upgrading these usually requires a new harness set up and sometimes adapter plates (both pretty cheap)
AZVendor Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 If the V601 is multiprice, you probably have a Vendo factory harness that accomodates multiple validators including the Mars. Put in a 110V flasher front and its required power pigtail and plug the factory harness into the validator. Any single price machine needs a T-blocker harness to match the validator you are installing. The T-blocker is the harness that interfaces between the coin mech and validator and also plugs into the coin mech plug for power. If you can list the machine models, coin mech, current validator, and single or multiprice we can tell just what you'll need. I have these parts if you don't have a local source.
Vendors Tech Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 If you have an Ardac, you need an MEI single price changer to validator harness, and an MEI 110 volt power harness to make the VN-2511 work. That's all you need to upgrade, and its plug and play with those harnesses. I can tell you where to get the harnessing if you need it.
ondeckdean Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 After some further inspection, both machine are using a Dixie Narco USA 15 bill acceptors. I need a couple harnesses to allow me to replace the USA 15s with my VN2511s. Let me know and thanks guys.
Vendors Tech Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Yes you can use the 2511 or 2501. You need an MEI single price changer to validator harness. They were made in two separate ways. One way, the harness was one piece. The other way, it was a Y harness, and you had to have the 110 volt power harness as well to make it work. The part # for the single piece is 250070013. I haven't been able to get the single harness from any MEI distributor recently, I think they went totally over the 2 piece. I am having our harness maker make the single piece for us because it is cheaper. If you give any supplier that part number, they will get you the 2 piece deal if they don't have the single.
