jerry1973 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Hello, I have not developed my eye on identifying vending machines (yet). I know this is probably one of the really common machines, but please let me know what it is. Is it a multiprice bottle capable machine? Thanks much!! http://springfield.craigslist.org/bar/3921832965.html
jerry1973 Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 yeah sorry you were fast, i realized that i didnt put the link up until a few seconds after i posted. Link should be there now
ruff84 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Looks like it's a vendo univendor. I am not sure if its 1 price or multi price. Go to vendoco.com and go to their catalog and you can look at all the manuals for that machine.
Vendors Tech Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 The control panel looks like a Dixie design. Might be Dr. Pepper's version of the 276. Might even be an E model multi price. You'd have to look inside to see if there is a control board. If it works and cools, its an ok machine. Dr. Pepper style machine parts are VERY hard to get though. If you could find a regular generic/Pepsi/Coke, that would be better parts wise.
AZVendor Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 That is a DN 276 multiprice with a rare (to me) Dr. Pepper door on it. There is no way it can even have 8 columns let alone 8 selections as the ad says. The delivery port is on the left so it's a 276 pre E-model (square trim port). It will have 6 columns to match the 6 selections and will have an SII or SIID board in it. It has a Coinco bill validator. You can get all the internal parts without problem and most likely all the door parts, too. The angled buttons might be the only difficult part to get, but I'd bet DN still has them. $600 is okay if it's in location-ready condition and you don't have to do anything like rebuild the coin mech or validator or power wash it. You might want it as narrow soda machines like these can be hard to come by.
jerry1973 Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 Thanks guys.. I really appreciate it!! AZ.. from what i gather from your post, this is a pre "E" series machine.. are there drawbacks and disadvantages? and will it do bottles and or cans with the proper shim setup? Thanks again!!
AZVendor Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I'm not aware of a 3 can deep version of the DN276, so it will be 2 cans deep and could accomodate a 16 oz bottle or can in any column and probably a 20oz Gatorade in the wide column, but that's about it. It's a nice machine for a small location (really all they're good for).
jerry1973 Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 so it wont do 20oz like the E series does correct? if thats the case then the benefit of this vs a standard 276 can only machine is that it is multiprice correct? Thanks for the help
AZVendor Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 You would need an E-series machine to easily do 20 oz bottles. If that is your goal then this isn't the machine you want to use. The 276 will be best for 12 oz cans and 16 oz products. You can do bottles in a T-series machine, but only one bottle deep for most 20 oz bottles with a modified setup. The T-series was DN's first 3 deep machine but wasn't designed for bottles, just high can capacity.
jerry1973 Posted July 9, 2013 Author Posted July 9, 2013 I asked the owner to read the tag for the model info and he said it was a DN 276D ?? anyone know anything about a D series? Here is a link to a picture of the tag http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll230/jerryman2465/IMG_0757.jpg
AZVendor Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 The D is for Dr. Pepper. T is for triple depth cans on generic machines and old style Pepsi, R is for Very Fine juice, TR is a T-model for Very Fine, M is for Pepsi Magnum door, MC is for Pepsi Magnum Circular door, E is for extended cabinet (bottles), CC is for Coca Cola. Most of the letters designate the door design. The serial number indicates it was built in the 4th quarter of 1995 and has an SII logic board. This is a 2 button logic board. Though it says SII, it might actually have the smaller/newer single button SIID board in it.
moondog Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Hello, I have not developed my eye on identifying vending machines (yet). I know this is probably one of the really common machines, but please let me know what it is. Is it a multiprice bottle capable machine? Thanks much!! http://springfield.craigslist.org/bar/3921832965.html I'm going with Dixie Narco 276 - a smaller machine and probably single priced
kiwi Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I'm going with Dixie Narco 276 - a smaller machine and probably single priced I thought you just said it was a Vendo 407 or are my eyes playing tricks on me again
moondog Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I thought you just said it was a Vendo 407 or are my eyes playing tricks on me again I have a 407 that's the spitting image of this one - but then he added the second set of pictures so I changed my mind. Looks like Dr. Pepper was buying them from Dixie and Vendo - we see this same door style on some of the 7-up machines too. (actually Kiwi, I knew you were watching and was just messing with you)
Vendors Tech Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 All the bottlers buy from all the manufacturers, namely, Dixie Narco, Royal, and Vendo. Each bottler has a different design that they stuck to on most of their bubble front vendors. That horizontal style stayed with all bubble front Dr. Pepper machines as they got newer. Pepsi's style has a slightly wider sign than the generic, and the Coke machines have the "C" style cut out sign. Of course not every bottler machine followed those styles, they all used some regular sized machines with regular signs. Changes have come with custom machines, HVV vendors, and glass front sodas. However, the wider sign, "C" sign, and horizontal Dr. Pepper are unique to the bottlers and were their favorites.
jerry1973 Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 well it looks like my patience is about to pay off again. The owner has agreed to sell this to me at $400 friday. I have a question about this machine that maybe you guys can help me with. Can I vend the longer 16oz cans such as monster energy out of this (even if just one row)? Since it is multi price, I want to do it if I can. Thanks for all the replies!!
AZVendor Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Yes you can do Monster in this machine. You will need to adjust the brown motor cam for one product deep, meaning only one notch visible on the circumference of the brown cam. Then put a few cans in the column and move the rear spacer forward to within 1 inch of the cans. Now push the cans back against the rear spacer and see if there is enough room to stick your fingers down between the sold out paddle and the can. Adjust the rear spacer so that a finger's width is all the room you have. Put the adjusters into the same holes top and bottom. Now notice that the adjusters on the rear spacer may protrude through into the neighboring columns, so you might need to cover them so they don't puncture adjacent cans.
