ruff84 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 So far locating had been rough for me. I have 2 locations that I want to approach but not sure which is the best location. Location 1: business called effingham equity. According to manta 15 employees (although i count more cars outside he business everyday) and they are some sort of farm business (grain elevator and deliver fuel to farmers as well) this place is on my way to work and 5 miles from any store or gas station. My worry is how do I know that they don't have all but 3 employees out on the road all the time? This location is 15 miles from my house and on my way to and from work Location 2: mechanics shop, manta says 2-4 employees about 1/4 mile from he nearest gas station and next door to McDonald's. I know they do some business but not sure how busy they get. This location is 4 miles away from my house. Which one should I go after. I would do both but I only have 1 more machine in my garage. Assuming the 1 I approach first says yes which is the better option.
Vending How Chris Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 What kind of machines are you placing? Soda? Snack? Do you have other locations in proximity to either? Are both going to be placed in break rooms or in the lobby area where customers would be? With the information you've given, I'd go with the first option because they have many more employees than the other. Depending on the sales in a soda machine, you might be able to also put a snack machine or take over their office coffee service. I wouldn't worry about employees going on the road, since they will often buy drinks/snacks to take with them. Hope this helps,
moondog Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I'm of a slightly different opinion here as I'd go for the mechanics shop. The first option seems like a very small "white collar" location and even though it's got more people, I'd bet a soda machine in the mechanics shop would do better. The last thing you need is a "white collar" location with fifteen people that decides they want a snack machine. This is where a lot of newbies would make the mistake of sticking in a combo machine that fifteen office employees would probably never pay for.
Vending How Chris Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Good point. I was interpreting the second location as blue collar when I made my initial assessment. If its actually more of a white collar or office environment (like a break room), unless you can sell them some kind of free vend or office coffee package, I'd take the much lower maintenance mechanics shop.
snack dude Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 The only thing I have against the mech shop is its next door to a mcdonalds. people are going to bring their cars in and walk next door and get something to eat and a fountain drink. My bet is the mechanics do the same thing. At least the first location has a captive audience.
Vending How Chris Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 This is true, but if they want a soda that they can also get at mcdonalds, its more convenient for them to get it from the mechanic's shop. You'll only lose business to your hungry customers, not your thirsty ones. :-)
