What are we looking at here?

Looking at 3 machines.  The lady wants $300 a machine but over the phone said she can't go any lower than $750 for the trio.  They paid $300 a piece and didn't want to take a loss.   Of course she says all machines work.  Keys are missing from one.  I can drill those out and replace them.  She said she would call a locksmith but I said I would rather save the money and take it off the sale price as I could deal with that myself.  Foolish to waste another $75 or so on a locksmith.  I will have make and models as soon as she emails me the particulars.

These are multiprice Vendo V600's, Univendor's as Vendo called the line, and they have 10 columns of 3 cans deep or 2 bottles deep (may depend on the bottle).  They are from grocery store locations with store brand graphics on them and that's why there are no validators - the products were priced cheap.  They are good machines if you need tons of capacity or like moving very heavy machines, but they do fit through most doorways.  You will want to replace the signs and might need to rebuild the coin mechs before putting on location. Most of them had a universal validator harness installed, and it's still available, so that you can use Coinco or Mars in them.

Yes, you can install validators in those. You just need to see if there is a validator harness already there and for which model(s). If not, I have harnesses for that machine.

That's about half the lowest price I ever seen for a Univendor 511 or 601.  As long as they work and the compressors are good you should jump on all three of them.  Even if you don't need them you could probably get $750 for one.

New fronts are available from NBINC for about $75 shipped http://www.nbsinc.net .  Just use the old one as a template - takes about two hours to swap one out.

Excellent price for those machines as long as there are no major problems with them.  The coin mech and validator are not that bad to rebuild cost wise, and parts are readily available.

From the tags on the backs of the machines it appears that they are V475.  Not sure if that is good or bad.  Any advice on those? The Exude machine had a serial number tag on it that said " 01374".   Hope this can help get me some answers.

The tags on the backs of the 2 machines say they are V 475  the Exude machine was different.

Vendo 475's were 8 selection machines with 5 wide columns and 3 narrow columns.  These machines have 10 selections and if they have 10 corresponding narrow columns then they should be V600's that are 3 cans deep.  I can't be certain that Vendo didn't make any 10 selection 2 can deep machines, so you will have to look at them again.  Rather than looking at any tags on the backs of the machines, since the factory didn't put any there, look at the serial number plates on the outside edges of the doors or on a paper serial number label on the inside of the machine to right or left of the delivery chute.  This factory plate or label will have a model number and serial number on it.  The first 3 digits of the model number will be the actual machine model.  The other tag you saw was probably an inventory tag for whoever owned the machine before, especially if it's the one mounted on the top of the front of the door.

I own a Vendo 475 that's a single price machine but I have seen some advertised as multipriced.  $250 is not bad for a single priced machine but multipriced ones would be better - too bad they're not all the 601's.

Ps. the one I have does have a validator installed (Coinco BA30)

Model 470442004    921120 (i think)  V475       Serial 169740   approved for outdoor use  (nice)

Model 470442002    921109               V475       Serial 167006

This is the other machine.  She says she has one just like this with Dale Earnhardt on it.  More information in a bit.  I will find out what coin mechs these have.

I take it back.   She has 2 machines that have the GO on it.

Not to expand a thread out, please forgive me, but if you had a choice between the V475 or the Exude machine, which one would you rather have?

In looking at the photos of the machines again, the Exude machine is multiprice, 10 selections and if not a V600 then I don't know what it is, because all V470 and V475 I have researched are only 8 selections.  They do all look like they are 72" high when next to each other.  The Exude machine might be a version we just haven't seen before.  The manufacturers did some weird low production stuff sometimes.

I do see that I made a mistake and the GO machines are 8 selections (I should have looked closer) and are single price.  Those will be only 2 cans deep, so $250 may be kind of high since you still have to put a validator in them.  A 3 deep version of the 475 is a V516 and was usually multiprice, but again, I've only seen it in 8 selections.

I'm eating it up!  I forgot to mention something.  I live in the boondocks and there are not many machines available even close to me.  My best shot at getting a used machine is 2.5 hours away.  So with what I gather, I think I will offer $1,000 for 4 machines.  At this point I have to get in the game as I already have a hotel that needs at least 4 drink machines and 3 snack machines.  Plus a friend that wants a snack and drink machine in his office of 50 employees.  Nice huh!  Now to come up with some machines.  Again, shipping is going to be $500 or better to my location.  Getting anything used locally is a slim shot.  I have to follow the buffalo herd.  I have to get this business up and running, and this just might be my shot if I can get these back home and cleaned up.

Most of us tend to shy away from the older single priced machines but in reality 95% of your sales will be 75 cent sodas even in the multipriced machines.

Those machines will clean up nicely for your new locations and there won't be any problem with only one machine being multiprice.  You don't need to get into bottle vending this early in the game.  The multiprice machine will give you the ability to easily do a 16 oz can of energy drink and you could offer a canned juice or two for the hotel.  I would place the multiprice machine in or near the lobby with any higher priced products in it.  Then the single price machines will go elsewhere on the property.

You need to realize that there is a likelihood of vandalism in a hotel.  I see that the Vendos have T-handle hasps to place a lock over the T-handle.  Use those and put a hockey puck lock on them.  You also want to get some high security locks for your T-handles in the hotel.  Installing hasps on the sides of the soda machines up near the validator would be smart as well, as that's where they will try to pry the machine open to get to the dollar bills.  Sorry to rain on your parade, but I want you to be prepared.

You will have some work to do with new signs, validators and probably coin mechs.  Do you have anyone who can work on the refrigeration for you if they don't cool properly?
