CajunCandy Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 After swapping out machines in my trailer park, I would like to put some newer style light in machine only one bulb work now and Grainger wants $25 a bulb 72" long single pin. what options out there? mike
Vendors Tech Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 We sell LED lights. You can get a retro kit and the bulbs will fit in the same fixture and holes, it comes with a new plug and ply power supply. You can unplug your old ballast with this. These LEDs come with a 5 year warranty, and are way brighter and far more energy efficient than flourescents. The kit will go into just about any machine. What model and make do you have?

The cheapest way to buy them is by the case, probably 12 lamps, from a lighting supply house. In your area, I'd check with an Electrical Wholesaler (you might have to go to Nola). I used to be in the lighting business and as I recall an F72 ran about $7.50 a pop in wholesale case lots - this was a few years back. The nice thing about getting the case is you have something safe to keep the lamps in. If you can, get the Daylight color - F72T12D instead of the F72T12CW. The "Daylight" stands out better in signs. The alternative is LED but you're talking some serious bucks for the six footers. Check these guys out http://www.1000bulbs.com/search/?q=f72t12+d
AZVendor Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Cajun and Moondog, The Cool White are by far the cheaper light now. The Daylight lamps do look brighter but they are about 3 times the price of the Cool White now. I found that out the hard way. The F72 and F64 single pin lamps that most non-Coke machines use are primarily only used in commercial signs now, so buying the bulbs publicly is expensive - especially in less than case lots. One of my customers went to Grainger to get an 30" T8 lamp for an AP snack machine and paid $14+ for one lamp. I sell the same for $5.95. Find a lighting supplier or maybe a sign installer in your area that might get you reasonably priced case quantities. I have had good luck in years past with lamps from D&S Vending. They double boxed the lamps, but the shipping is expensive and D&S are kind of high to begin with. Keep in mind when buying lamps for soda machines, that any machine from Coke will have High Output lamps with different style ends on the bulbs. The single pin lamps won't work in a Coke machine.

Shipping to me is $25 so I'd guess you'd be looking at about $15 - for the price of three at Grainger, you can get 15 from these guys.
