/////// Use exact change only light on Dixie Narco stays on ////

HI All,

I just set up a DN 501 E at a car dealership....I filled the changer ( a Mars TRC 6512 MDB) with coins but the " use exact change" light stays on.

How do I get rid of that light ?....FWIW I put the coins in through the slots on the bottom near the individual coin tubes NOT through the top part of the changer (is that OK w/ this coin mech or it  one that has to be fed through coin input near the top so the coin mech learns that it has change in it?).

I guess another possibility is that the coin mech is bad and needs replacing?

The machine was missing the 2 screws the coin mech normally hangs from so I will have to pirate the screws from another machine....I did not have a chance to feed coins through the mech since I the car dealership was closing.

Any advice on what I should do before I head back out to finish setup would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Andrew

Your loading method is correct - sounds like you've got a faulty sensor in one of the tubes.  Maybe try to make a purchase using coins - 2 quarters, 2 dimes and a nickel.  Sounds dumb but I did "wake one up" that way awhile back.

The coin mech does need to be aligned correctly to dispense change properly but that's not your immediate problem.

When you go back, have a known good mech with you just in case.

You should fill the coin mech for the first time using the TUBE FILL part of the coin mech programming which includes dropping the coins one by one in the top of the coin mech to ensure the machine knows it has enough change.  If that fails to turn the correct change light off then you need to replace the coin mech due to a tube sensor problem.

HI,

I don't have a known good changer but I do have 2 other unknown changers ( same make / model that I got when I got the drink machines)  I can try as well in case the "wake up method" and the fill the coin mech by the coin input methods don't work.

I don't know if it will help or not,  but I may try bringing some Q tIps with me to clean out the coin tubes where the sensor is to determine the coin levels.

Thanks for all you good advice, input and hep....I'm heading out now to see if I can get them some cold drinks!
