tafelice Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Hi Everyone, I'm in the researching stage. I have a location on a medium busy road and would like to develop some vending machine business there. In another new member pinned post someone spoke of some free e-books available. Where are those at? Any advice for some outdoor machines? Anyone doing ICE vending, I would be a good location for that but OH!!!! what a price tag. Any comments? Thanks, Tom
AZVendor Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Welcome to the forum! I don't know anything about rules, laws, zoning, etc. in your state/city/county, but I would imagine you can't just put up a commercial operation like that without some permits of some kind. This won't legally be anything like putting vending machines into a business which doesn't require special permits, because you are going to be the business. I would imagine you will need to obtain proper permission, zoning and permits for building a commercial structure. Also, who will your customers be? Neighborhood residents who will just walk to your machines or people who drive up just to use the machines? Will you be required to provide a parking lot for your patrons? Good luck with this and keep us posted on your progress.
tafelice Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 I have plenty of room. It's 2/5ths of an acre. My idea was to be primarily an ice vending location, that would be my draw, and the other machines would be adjacent for extra revenue. I am on a busy street in a fishing county. Thanks for the input.
VendingExperts Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Welcome to TVF! When ice vending peaked my interest, I found out the the machines were $80K-$100K, killed my interest real quick!!! Considering that you are selling bags of ice for $1. It would take a long time to recoup your money.

Actually the idea that drove me to this forum is I am interested in "deconstructing" one of these overpriced machines and make one of my own with a commercial ice maker, refrigeration unit, bill acceptor and a delivery method tbd.. I'd do all the work and the investment, need a mentor to guide me a bit. Would love to make an instructable out of that project. Thanks, mate.
