Vendergy Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 So I bought a used Red Bull RVRB 372-3 machine, had the t-handle drilled out, somI went to sumo-happ and bought a inner cylinder lock saying it's keyed alike, and a new t-handle..I received the t-handle assembly, looks good..and a new inner cylinder...WITH NO KEYS!! WTF am I supposed to do with it? A I missing something? here is what I bought http://na.suzohapp.com/amusement_products/security/30-2481-SP804?REF=SN Am I supposed to get a key #804 somewhere?
kiwi Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 In the description it states that : Keys for Keyed Alike locks must be purchased separatelyso unless you already have an 804 key you are going to have to purchase one
AZVendor Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 When you purchase a lock with a predetermined key code like the one you got, it is assumed that you already have the key. If you buy locks keyed differently, then you generally get two keys with them. The SP804 key code is a pretty common key code here in Arizona as one of the distributors here has used it in machines they sold for many years, so this might be the case in your area as well. If you have very many machines out you will want to get your own key code and not use any of the standard codes available from suppliers.
Vendergy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 First time changing locks, so I guess live and learn. hey AZ...nice to see you replying to my topic again! And thanks to kiwi also for the info. I googled sp804 key and nothing. I have no idea where I could get one, would any locksmith have it. I'd be happy to paypal someone if they could send me one! Thanks in advance!
AZVendor Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I might have a couple of spare keys for that lock. Let me check tomorrow and I'll let you know.
moondog Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Once you get a few machines running look into getting your own locks with the keys registered to you. Many of us use a company in Florida called LSI for these. It's not very secure having common locks with so many keys floating around.
Vendergy Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Thanks AZ, you're a bad golpher...btw, you wouldn't be desert vendor would you? That site comes up a lot on my google searches for parts and resources.
AZVendor Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 No, you're probably thinking of High Desert Vending. He's here in the valley and is a vendor that advertises to buy late model machines and then sells late model machines. It's kind of funny that so many of the machines he sells are "just off location" so I don't know if he upgrades his locations with newer machines and sells the older ones or just says that on a regular basis. He sells used parts from machines that he junks.
Vendergy Posted July 26, 2013 Author Posted July 26, 2013 I might have a couple of spare keys for that lock. Let me check tomorrow and I'll let you know. AZ, they are sending me a free key..so all good! Thanks.
Feral Vending Mechanic Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Just so you know, that lock is a "travel lock." There are thousands of them around. If you want true security, you're going to want to buy some good locks, probably keyed alike. You are just starting out, right? Invest in a good set of locks sooner rather than later.
