Dixie 501T power issue

I'm having a Dixie 501T S11/8 power issue. The refrigeration is cooling so the machine has power but I can't test the motors and it won't accept $ bills or coins. This part of the machine is acting like it has no power. Could there be a be a blown fuse or battery that is causing this? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Bill

Is your credit display lit up?  There are fuses in the logic board, but not one fuse that controls both the motor circuit and the coinage.  Check the lower left corner of your cabinet where there is a round tubular connection coming off the power block.  This rubber tubular connection is for power to the door.  If that connection is bad you won't have power to the board, motors or lights.  The board powers the coinage as well as the motors but if your lights are on then this tubular connection is good.  If you don't find a blown fuse in the logic board then your power transformer may be bad.  Check for voltage-in to the logic board.  Is this an SII or SIID board?

It was SIID board. Not sure that matters now as I think I found the problem. It is a used machine that I got a while back and hadn't deployed. I tested it and it worked at the time. Someone had the electronics plugged into a digital timer. Not sure why. I could understand the compressor on a timer but the electronics?  I pulled out the timer and it all works right. Now I have to figure out how to change the prices. Thanks again AZ.

The timer was probably used to limit times of days that the machine could be used in a school.  To change the prices, you push the service mode button, then pressing select buttons 1 & 2 together, scroll to the S-P menu.  Now press whatever selection you want to change and you will see the current price.  If you hold the button in you will increase the price.  If you release it and hold it in again, the price will decrease.  When you get the price you want move to the next selection and repeat the process.  Now close the door and verify your new prices.

guys, im having the same problem. Yesterday pepsi delivered a machine (dixie 501e) and I had a tough time getting there, so last night we went to fill it and after that the coin mech or validator acted like they had no power. Everything looked like it was plugged in and the board was working because i could go through the menus, but I didn't do any motor tests or anything. I have the call into pepsi, but if there is a timer, where would it be in the machine?

Jerry,

The timer on my machine was in the bottom left (as you face it) front. There was a plug going into the digital timer which controlled the flow of electricity to the electronics.  I pulled it out and it fixed the problem.

was it in the bottom left of the door, or behind the door in the cabinet? Just curious in case I have to try and get it going myself or if I ever need to look for something like that again.

It was behind the door. in the main part of the machine. It was just a few inches from where the compressor plugs in for its power source. On another note - I called Dixie Narco for tech support when I had the problem and they are now charging for calls. What's up with that??? They must think that they are Microsoft.

thanks! I really appreciate the information, since its a new delivery, pepsi is going to take care of it. I am the kind of person who can usually troubleshoot and repair most things, so I still want to know why its doing what its doing. I will check when im there to see if there is a timer.

Jerry - It's unlikely that there is a timer in your machine too.  If you have power to everything but the changer and validator you probably have a disconnected harness to the coinage.  More than likely your Pepsi machine is MDB which means there is only one connection between both devices and the logic board.  They probably just forgot to hook them up.

Bil - DN now charges a tech support fee to anyone who doesn't purchase parts from them or have an account with them.  They get too many calls from people that don't have a relationship with DN asking one-off questions and they know they will never sell a part to them.  They decided to weed them out by charging a fee per call.  It royally sucks as there are more soda machines made by DN than anyone else and now you can't ask them about anything.  I'm fortunate because I have an account, but there are so many people that will only call one time about their one machine that they spent too much time teaching them how to use their machines over the phone.  I can understand it, but I don't like it.  Luckily they are the only one at this time to charge for this.

AZ,

Back in the day I was told  that I needed to go to Betson their distributor to get parts. I opened an account with them and get parts there. Are they now selling parts directly? Is there a volume requirement?

Thanks, Bill
