cdman
Does anyone have pictures of the proper way to install the membrane and the rubber pad on dixie narcos? I have seen multiple types of rubber pads and membranes. I am not sure which direction to face the rubber pad or the membrane. Thanks
AZVendor
The rubber pads are hung on the studs first with the button side facing the plastic select button (the bottom pad will overlap the top pad), then the membrane goes on then the metal backing plate. Be sure you save the metal tube spacers from each stud or you will overtighten the plate and be sure you replace all the nuts. What symptom did you have that required you to replace the membrane? cdman
Not one particular machine, just in general. Sometime the symptom will be pressing one button and getting another selection. This is a big problem when you have different priced drinks. Usually it will give you the selection under the one you press. Changing the strip will fix it but they seem to go bad repeatedly in the same machines lasting sometimes as little as six months. In the picture with the membrane you can see the white label is up. I believe this is the correct orientation. I was getting the membranes rolled up from my distributor and found that this would cause the strip to seperate, now i make sure they are shipped flat. Having said this, i still have entirely too many problems with these membranes. Any input would be greatly appricated. Thanks
AZVendor
You will also find that the long rubber protrusions from the pads will go through holes in the membrane and then are pulled through the metal plate. This allows all the parts to be assembled and then they will hold together as you install them. I haven't come across a machine that routinely fails the switch membrane, they are generally pretty reliable. The failure you described, press a button and the selection below vends, is the usual failure symptom. I see no signs of it in your photo but do you get salting of your machines? A corroded connection between the harness and the membrane could be your cause of repeat failures. I do agree that the membranes should be sent flat as well. Have you had any of them fail after receiving them flat? If you still get failures (in the same machine) after receiving them flat then you could have a bad logic board. cdman
No Salting, Just in general as the replacement for the descrite individual micro-switches previously used. I have way to many failures compared to the micro-switches. In the picture with the white label facing up is this the proper way to install the membrane? Also you can see that one rubber pad has the **** and the other doesn't. Which is the newest style? Thanks
AZVendor
The way your photo shows the membrane connector is correct. The newer style selection pad has the **** on it. I don't know why you are having so many failures unless it was simply from the way the parts were handled and shipped. The traces can be fragile. Have you had any fail since they started shipping them flat? You might need to use a different supplier. I also have these in stock if you need any.
