AP 7600 "Use correct change only"

Recommended Posts

Went to service a location yesterday and my AP 7600 snack machine would not accept anything except exact change or bill for items. I sell chip for .75 and the candy and pastries for $1. I don't believe its the bill validator. There is a single item in the machine for .60 and when I put .75 in the light for exact change flashes as well.

I checked the coin holder and it is full.

Is there a setting for maximum change return that I am missing or something more serious?

This machine has very basic programming and you aren't missing anything.  You either have incorrect pricing in the machine due to a voltage surge or a power outage or your coin mech is faulty and needs to be replaced.  Check your prices first.  If they are all wrong, you probably lost power and the board wasn't able to retain the pricing.  If that is the issue then your only way to prevent further loss of prices is to replace the logic board.  Also make sure your light in the machine isn't burned out or flickering in attempts to start.  That can cause logic board problems.

Some older mars 6000 First ones that came out. When they lost power would not allow the bill validator to operate until it was used with change. It was annoying flaw because if you had a on/off switch like at a school the bill validator would not work until someone used change.

If all your prices are good then the coin mech has a bad coin sensor in the quarter tube or nickel tube.

The 7000 logic board won't have a battery back up. I think it uses a static ram to save prices.

A UPS has been mentioned on this forum at different times. I have used them some and it seems to clear up on going intermediate problems. If it is persistent that would be my recommendation.

I had a friend who had a 7000 that wasn't holding prices and I told him to send it in. His friend who thought he was vendor and who no longer is stood there telling him to replace the battery. I stood there looking like a fool and said really show it to me! I left and a few days latter told my friend to never have that guy around when I was there.

I am a very humble person.... I don't like confrontation and I don't like stepping on others toes. I learn from my mistakes.... Sometimes will laugh at them with you. I also learn from those that also make mistake. It is what keeps this business from being boring.

But if I know 100% I am right I will just shut up and let you learn like I did.   ;D From many many mistakes... And still do!

I get great pleasure helping the little guy........

The prices are fine. They have not changed. The light does not flicker so it might be the coin much.

Yes, I would change the coin mech out.  If you don't have a source you can PM me for one as an exchange.
