shanipaqman
Looking to expand and add a couple of small 5-6 head racks at locations worth putting one in. Anyone have a recommendation on a good locator? LOL. I know it is a joke, but I really don't have the time to cover all the areas that may produce a good location so that is why I am looking to find someone. Thanks for any feedback. jerrybrecko
commission only employees are nearly impossible to get. employees want security not commission only. you want to do commission only you need a outsourced sales rep aka locator service commission only employees are nearly impossible to get. employees want security not commission only. you want to do commission only you need a outsourced sales rep aka locator service

I am talking about real locations not some 7-11 , big resturants, bowling center, buffets, chains & franchises,etc.. where you are gonna make good $ so its worth paying someone

Really good post and the forums are lucky to have you again. This post really piques my curiosity dogcow. I'd really like hire a "pre-seller" like you describe. For the SERIOUS locations, I think it gives off a very professional vibe to have an appt. setter prepping the location prior to my visit. Do you happen to have some sort of checklist that you're looking for them to accomplish? Does the appt. setter mention commission/equipment or is that your realm? Curious what your process looks like.

Do you happen to have some sort of checklist that you're looking for them to accomplish? Does the appt. setter mention commission/equipment or is that your realm? Curious what your process looks like. First off finding the right people is key. I have worked with two guys both versed in outside sales. First guy was a rep for coca-cola for many years the other guy was outside sales for merchant services. This is important because they know how to walk into a place cold (or call cold) and get the decision maker (DM). They know who is the right person to make a decision. I then would take the person and give them a few hours crash course in vending. We would go to one of my locations and my arcade and look at a typical vending set up that i do. We would go through the different equipment, and I would show how it works, how its serviced how much room they need, etc.. so that the sales guy understands what hes talking about and can tell where it would fit, etc.. I explain to them about how the commissions work, and what kinds of locations they will be targeting. I explain that a bowling center can make a lot more than a diner, but in general they should shy from specifics and just direct those kind of questions on commissions to me. I give them the basics of the pitch that works for me. I give them rebuttals to objections, how to deal with other vendors , how to deal with existing chairty or existing commission vendors. etc.. I give them a prospect list from which they can get the idea of what kind of places I need to target. For the most part the appointment setter would not suggest particular equipment besides what is the typical set up that I use. However they will go over my brochure with the prospect and give me notes on what interested them. They are taught what equipment is appropriate for say a diner vs a bowling center so they know not to promise a small diner i can put in a barbercut. The general thing is they are there to do all of the cold calling and follow up work and get intelligence on the location. When they get the DM to meet with me they are a hot prospect, they have been pitched AND they are interested. They are a very hot prospect,[ this has lead to me closing 9/10 accounts i have talked to using this method. The notes they give me also gives me a plan on whats going on with their location so i can walk in with almost a blind proposal done. I know what kind of place it is, how much room they have to fill, if there are other vendors there and I can plan for that and present the DM a complete vending plan for their operation. I also know what rebuttals to be prepared for. I can say personally this approach cost some money, it is not a cheap way to go , but it super charged my business. When I was going heavy with this approach we had a pipeline going where I was closing 1-2 major accounts a week and I had ot start turning down business because I couldnt afford the equipment/product and the commissions to pay my sales guy. That was really the problem. I also was dealing with some personal problem at the time that left me completely broke so I had to lay off the sales guy. Like i said, it will cost you, and the first few weeks youre not gonna get anything cause the guy has to build up his pipeline, but once you get rolling this will super charge your business. if you target the right locations (especially doing full line or amusements where the $ is high) you will get a good ROI on a decent sales person. It also frees up YOUR time to do your own prospecting so you can double up efforts or to work some other end of the business. the main thing is to make sure the sales guy understands the type of appts u are willing to accept sand that hes invested in the success of ur biz so hes not just out banging out any golpher appt. I would only pay for laundromat, family diner, pizza shop, buffet, bowling, skating, FEC, ice ceram shop, RYO cigarette shop. anything else he had to get my preauth before pitching it to be sure he would get paid. cause at first he was pitching a bunch of hole in the wall bars and i was not interested in doing those. remember they are trying to make the most $ with least effort like anyone else so u really have to make sure you are clear what you will and wont pay for or you will make an expensive mistake If u have any additional q's just let me know.
