SkydiverBC
I recently picked up a Vendo Vmax 540 with a Quantum 700 mech in it. It is presently a $1, .05, .25, .25 configuration. Most items are $1.25, $2.25 or at most $2.50 depending on the item being sold. My other combo machine has a $2, .05, .25, $1 configuartion that works pretty well with a bill validator and has never been short of change. I want to put a bill validator into the vmax 540 and am wondering if I can just convert the $1 to a $2 coin to handle $20 bills easier. This would allow 2 quarter tubes as most items are $1.25. Will the Quantum 700 allow me to set it up this way? Can I use the $1 tube for $2 coins? They seem to fit ok. (I would not need to source a coinco tube for the $2 coins if I switch to this configuration) Also - on a side note, this former coke Vmax 540 has an odd metal shield over the bill validator cover plate (plugs the opening when a validator is not being used). I have no idea what this additional shield would be for. Any ideas? I would need to remove this large silver shield in order to access the cover plate for the bill validator opening. Thanks! AZVendor
Yes, you can install a $2 tube in the A position leaving your configuration as $2, .05, .25, .25. You would also have to reprogram the coin mech so it knows to put $2 coins in that location. Would you like me to send you the tube and instructions? To install your validator, remove the silver plate on the inside and see if that allows the black plate to be removed as well - it should. The only question is do you have studs that fit a validator or is this one of the infamous Vendo openings that is wider than a validator bezel, requiring an adapter plate to be installed? I have this adapter plate in stock if you need one.
SkydiverBC
Not sure about the adapter plate yet, I will try a fit next time I get a chance. Regarding the coin tube, $2 coins will fit in the $1 tube, can't I just use that tube?
AZVendor
You can use the $1 tube but there is currently a shim in the bottom specific to the $1 coin. The $2 tube has a different part number because it includes the shim specific to the $2 coin. If you want to use your current $1 tube for $2 coins then you have to remove the tube and the $1 shim and reinstall the tube with the $2 shim. I can send you the shim if you can't get one locally.
