Yes, I have one of these old machines, but everything works.  All lights on display work, all motors run and vend item properly, Coinmech recognizes coins and bill validator recognizes and accepts bills.  However, after running smoothly last week, this week the machine just goes into like a service call where it displays all zeroes on the display screen. I have already unplugged the machine and even turn it on and off. It will stay on operate mode for about 30 seconds to a minute and then go back to all zeroes on display.  If I select service mode, LED's light up. If I try to select Test, Check or Operate, the individual LED for each of them does not light up. I will say that, if I select TEST, even though the individual LED does not light up, I am able to put a coin in and then if I select TEST again, the light comes on and the display screen will show the amount of the coin I inserted. I then can continue to add more coins and vend an item out of the machine. But once it vends, it goes back to all zeroes on display screen and ofcourse will not operate like that. Any help or suggestions?   Is it the Control Board, even though everything appears to be working fine.
Also if I leave the machine off for an extended period of time (24 hrs), I have to reprogram the prices.

It sounds like your battery is bad - unfortunately these batteries are soldered into the control board so you have to pull the whole thing and send it in for repair.

I believe Randy @ AZVending would be your best bet as far as getting the board repaired. he might even have some advice on possible upgrades, such as MBD, for the machine since you're already in this deep.

Welcome to the forum.

Your problem could be the logic board, but you can try disconnecting the mode box first to see if that changes anything.  You didn't say if the machine is actually vending with money during this period of zeros on the display.  If it does still vend properly and pay change then you could have a bad display board.  However the fact that the mode box does not behave correctly along with the funky display, I would say it's a problem with the board.  One thing that happens with this model of machine is coins can fall behind the board and short it out, causing weird things to happen or actually blowing the board.

Turn your power off and carefully remove the lower nuts and screws holding the board to the door.  Pull the board slightly and wiggle it to see if any coins fall out from behind it.  If not then the problem is a bad board.  The fact that it loses prices when the power is off means the battery on the board has also failed though the battery won't cause the display and mode box issues.

You can PM me if you need any parts for this machine.  Good luck with it.

Star been, the AP 4640 did not have a factory option of a dollar bill validator, you must have an aftermarket kit on the machine. Of you can, disable the kit and then try it. Sometimes aftermarket thing have strange effects on OEM parts. If not, I would agree it would be a board issue.

Good luck and welcome the the forum.
