Bill Validator Acting Funny

My bill validator is accepting dollar bills but only 75% of the way. At that point it seems to struggle and rejects the bill. I think it is an old Maka.

Looks like a Maka, pic is a little fuzzy, getting these rebuilt is not worth the effort. You money will be better spent replacing and upgrading.

The main validator refurbisher around here is John at Vending Works and he won't fool with the Makas anymore.  I always upgrade mine with the Mei VN2512 and you'll probably need a new harness as well.

This is a classic case of why we don't recommend messing with low volume accounts - every time you get a little bit in the black you end up fixing something that wipes out any profits

I can provide you a replacement for this Maka.  All of the metal validators are obsolete now and upgrading one, be it a Maka, Coinco CBA, Ardac USI or a Mars VFM,  should always be a consideration when purchasing a used machine.  If you could provide the model of machine that this Maka is in I can tell you what will replace it.  Usually a Coinco Mag series is easiest to replace a Maka with.  Yours is a 27V, basically a 24V unit, so let me know which model machine and I can fix you up.

This machine can be upgraded to a Coinco Mag32 with a short harness that goes from the existing harness to the Coinco validator. I would also need a photo of the front of the Maka and the inside of the door opening to see what brackets might be needed. If you'd like a replacement then just send me a PM.

You can google a manual for your model of Maka, but it probably won't be of much help with troubleshooting as yours needs to be rebuilt.  The problem with rebuilding units that old is that all the parts are old and you never know when one of the gears, motors, springs, electronic components, mag heads, etc. will fail leaving you again with a non-working validator.  This is why an upgrade is warranted and recommended.

This isn't a business where taking shortcuts will help you in the long run.  Think about it as when the alternator fails on your car, you can't just press one new bearing into it without worrying when the other bearing or the diodes or the winding will fail.  It gets replaced as a unit with a rebuilt one that has a warranty.
