USI CB 500 SA lesson learned

Recommended Posts

No tech support on Saturday. After about 5 hrs of working on this CB 500 I finally got it ready to set and now have better knowledge of it.

Had 4 bad motors and only had 2 I got from AZ. 2 were bad connections and 2 were bad. So I came out good on that. Ran Diag on vendor everything came back good. Took dollars but no change. Took 6510 and put it on tester checks good. Installed a 6512 full of change still won't accept change and flashes 2 meaning it is disconnected from machine. Not good. Unplug bill changer and connect directly to control board to eliminate any harness problems. So I also figured out drop sensor wasn't working either. Yea... Traced it out and found it also had a dirty connection.   Got it working. Still won't accept change. Yea have to deliver first thing Tuesday morning the pressure is on and no parts will get here by delivery time.... Kept thinking this is what happens when you procrastinate and put it off. If only I had done this Thursday or Friday I would have had tech service... And now I sold it to cheap... Going to have to replace board most likely.

Not so quick to condemn the board I decided to try a 5 tube changer. My favorite chose Mars 7512 not one I like to put in a sold machine but hey.

Worked like a champ.   :o  Here was my thinking this vendor was built in 2005 long after 3 tube changers were built. So my thinking was the E-Prom might not support the older coin mechs. I have not ran across that before but now it works.

The bad thing about USI or at least in my case I could not find a troubleshooting manual for this anywhere. Just a service manual with no troubleshooting except for refrigeration.

Curious if anyone has ran across this....

Dang Roger - you couldn't find a more expensive coin mech to stick in there.  Those 7512s are great but cost beaucoup bucks.  Not too sure any USI is worth it ;D

I don't think the problem was the old coin mech, but that is always a possiblility.  Only USI tech support could confirm that.  Most of the USI's I work on have Coinco 9302GX's in them and there are no problems.  The 6510 is the older Mars MDB and predates the 4000 series.  The 6512 is a pretty solid unit though.  You'll have to ask USI about that.

  • 2 weeks later...

Your a real tight... Moondog, those new Mei 6 tube are reasonably priced and to date I have bought a lot and will be buying more shortly, I find they are great and from experience to date  they sure minimise those dreaded  coin jams.

By the way Moondog, are you related to Kiwi at all?

I paid about $300 for the one I've got - that's a lot of money for a coin mech.  And I might be related to Kiwi - you know all we colonials are probably related somewhere way back. ;D  Glad to hear that they work so well - for that kind of money they should make their own change.

I did end up putting a 4 tube coinco. Yea it worked but payout is real slow. I did acquire 3 of the 7512's for no money. The guy I sold the route for had them and I had done him a lot of favors and since the guy who bought the route didn't know of these in the garage I helped myself to them. LOL Told him if the guy was going to get them for free I should be the one getting them. Along with a few Mars 2511's and a D/N cooling deck I sold for $200 the next day.

Those things must be so hot I'm surprised that they are not melting. Beware, sooner or later karma will catch up to you...

Must be going under the fence, to get those cheap DBA's and expensive coin mech's.

If I remember right I paid $150 just for a refub. 7512 coin mech, with a invoice or receipt to show I paid for it.

I know it is hot in your area of Texas, but dang now I know why!

Yeah thats how much i used to pay for refurbed mdbs. I barely found this guy a couple of weeks ago. At those prices i rather not ask anything. An invoice is an invoice. Even the compressors are brand spanking new. And gives me a warranty.

Invoice or not if the price you are paying is too good to be true.

If you get caught with this equipment your charge would likely be poisons of stolen property.

So you are admitting on a public forum that you know that you are buying stolen property??? Anybody have the El Paso PD email address?

What a idiot, its guys like you that give our entire industry and bad reputation as being full of con artists, scammers and thieves.

Not only that but now those invoices are evidence of having recieved stolen property...... and if they disappear now the DA can add destruction of evidence and/or conspiracy... its awefully hard to fill machine when you are in a courtroom and then behind bars...... my dog has ticks that have a higher IQ.....your mama must be so proud.....
