Vendo 480D Can machine

Recommended Posts

Having an issue with 1 selection on a Vendo 480D can machine.  The 1st selection in the machine is mis-vending.  The motor turns right, but it's skipping cans on the first and second vend and dropping 3 the third.  It's set for 3 deep, and the cam is set correctly...I am not very familiar with these machines so any help would be much appreciated.

You're either missing the gauge bar from that column or it's possible that your product rotor is 180 degrees out of time. You can correct the timing by emptying the column, noting which way the open rotor is facing, removing the three screws holding that motor to the stack, then slightly pulling the motor away to disengage it from the rotor. Now you can turn the rotor to face the opposite direction and reinstall the motor and screws.

If the machine accepts money and vends properly but the "make another selection" light is still on then you either have a bad display board (unlikley) or a bad logic board.  However, if this only happens on one selection and it won't vend then you have a problem with that column, and if it happens on all selections with them not able to vend then you might have a bad board.  The single column issue could be a bad or disconnected motor switch or a jammed column which could be caused not by a can, but by a worn out gate link behind the motor.  If you have a column that jams but no cans are stuck that's the clue that the gate link is worn out.  In that case it has to be replaced by you can unjam it temporarily by pulling the motor loose from the rotor while not letting the rotor spin.  As soon as the motor is pulled away you should hear a loud thunk as the loading gate comes free and unjams the column.

Let me know if you need any parts for this.
