problems with tabletop snack machine

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a tabletop snack machine, 2 shelves 15 coils total. It worked okay at first, but now the selection buttons are out of whack. The coils are labeled A-0 to A-4, B-0 to B-9. When making a selection, instead of pushing A or B and then a number, it now makes a selection off a single button as follows:

1--> A-0

2--> A-1

3--> A-2

4--> A-3

5--> nothing

6--> nothing

7--> nothing

8--> nothing

9--> B-0

A--> B-1

0--> B-2

B--> B-3

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Your link says "You have no permission to view this album."  What is the model of the machine?  Your problem sounds like a bad keypad with a failed matrix but it could be a bad logic board.  I would say the keypad if this pattern repeats itself.

Ok, I fixed the permissions for the pictures.

The only reference I have for the model number is on a sticker on the back: Avanti Vending Machines, Model NO RCS-15-EP.

I think the problem is in the board and not the keypad. I just pulled the board off the door and used a wire to jump the pinholes where the keypad plugs in. It is behaving exactly like if I was pushing the buttons.

Never seen one or heard of it.  It is some kind of contract-built machine that must have had very few units sold.  I've studied the board and the machine and the only thing I can come up with is maybe it was built by Polyvend.  Unfortunately Polyvend is gone and the board they made for their table top machine is different than this one.  I'm sorry, but it's time to retire this orphan and get a better machine.

http://www.avantivendingmachines.com/show_Product.asp?ID=12173

If is more than a couple hundred for a board just scrap the machine, good quality full size machines are only a few hundred used.

Get AP, National, Crane, AMS or Rowe, all are great and Az  vendor will have parts for them.

That link cracks me up.  It should say "Rebranding Existing Vending Machines so We Can Overcharge for them since 1974."

The machine looks like a RPD which are manufactured in the USA by Raddatz Product Development but has been re-branded by Avanti Vending

You could try & contact them....  http://www.rpdvending.com/index.php/contact-us

I just saw in an old thread http://vendiscuss.net/index.php?/topic/13934-help-building-a-home-made-vending-machine/ about using an arduino to build a control board. Does anyone have an idea on what this would cost, and can anyone walk me through assembly and programing?

I did use the contact form on RDP's website, but haven't received a response yet.
