501E Double Vend No Vend

Recommended Posts

It sounds as though the cam is not set properly or is not shimmed correctly. It would help to know what model machine you have and wha t size package you are vending.s

One of my Dixie Narco machine has developed and issue where it will double vend then not vend then double vend then not vend.  What trouble shooting procedures should I use to pinpoint the cause of the issue?

Assuming that it worked correctly before, I'd check the motor for excessive gunk - sounds like the brake is malfunctioning due to being sticky.

Reminds me of when I worked at Wal*mart a while back--of course there were vending machines there in or near the breakroom. I didn't pay attention who operated it--this was circa 2000 and I don't know whether it was Can't-e'en or some other big whopper (or Walmart's own inhouse route, I don't know?), but there were about 5-6 machines selling various products as you can imagine. We used to call them "gambling machines." You could put in your money. Sometimes it would give you correct change, sometimes no change, sometimes too much change. Sometimes the machines would vend, double-vend, or not vend. All kinds of outcomes were possible, and highly unpredictable. Also, in the drink machines, quite often you would get the drink selection you asked for, but quite often it was actually stocked with a different product. It got to be quite a thing among us as we would play those gambling machines sometimes.

Yep sounds like the cam is not set properly, I set mine by the instructions and mine still didn't do right for 16oz bottles, so set the cam an do several test vends, you may have to move the cam a few times before u get it right

Does anyone know the correct cam and shim settings to vend 16 oz. Rockstar or Monster drinks?  I'm guessing I may have issues in the shim area since I set my cam identically to another 501E machine that I have that is currently dispensing cans properly.

According to the one I have sitting in my garage which is correctly set to vend Monsters, the cam is set on the #2 position and it uses the standard can shim.

In the single column you will need a rod in the center position, a can shim and the cam set to #2. Take note that there are 2 #2 settings on the cam. I believe you want the second one.

It's interesting in that according to the chart, all of the narrow columns have the rod in the "B" position (middle) regardless of what's being vended.  That chart is great by the way - Vendo could take a clue from these guys as their chart is worthless.

Lol!

Mr Royal talking about rods and vendo's.

I was installing rods just this weekend in a DN 276E, switched to cans from 20 oz bottles.

With can shims I can vend 16.9 oz bottles with the "rods" in the same place.

I must say that the Dixies are much more user friendly than the Vendos when it comes to figuring out the rods and shims.  The Vendo chart is twice as big and gives half as much info.

The Vendo 821, I purchased has a sliding shim, built in, crazy, if it works who cares.
