mgerety
I went to get a can out of my DN 108/105-5 yesterday and noticed the can was warm. I can hear a relay click every once in a while but have no compressor motor noise/vibration like normal. If I turn the thermostat all the way down, the fan will stop. When I turn it up, the fan starts again, but the compressor isn't running and the machine isn't getting cold. From what I read on forums, etc a lot of times it can be the relay/cap, and I bought a Supco 3 n' 1 start kit (model RCO410) for 1/3 to 1/3 HP motors. After installing it, I have the same behavior. The compresor is a DN model 400. Did I get the right 3 n 1 start (is the HP right for this compressor?). Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help! AZVendor
The clicking you heard is the compressor trying to start and then tripping the overload due to the current draw. Since you already tried a hard start kit, yes it is the right size, and the unit still won't start means you have a locked rotor and the compressor is toast.
