Conallvending
I was just notified by one of my accounts that the power cord on the machine has wires exposed. Due to their company safety police it can not be taped. He said their is enough slack before the splice to cut it and put a new plug on it. My question is would this be the cheapest quickest option or can a new power cord be purchased and installed? Which is my better option? It is an AMS 39-VCB Thanks And they do not have safety police but do have a safety policy
CajunCandy
Yes, a lot of companies has that same policy no tape on cord! OSHA regulations, company can get written up for it. If you have enough cord on it place new plug on cord. cajun
cvending
I can't recall how that cord connects. If there is enough cord, I usually cut the cord & strip back the wire. Then a purchase an extension cord of at least the same gushed wire, cut it and splice together
AZVendor
The AMS cords just plug into the back of the machine with a three prong female plug. You may have a bracket covering this plug so that it won't just fall off the back of the machine. Removing the bracket will allow you to replace the cord. I have these in stock and if you need one you can send me a PM.
AngryChris
I had a plug with exposed wire and I was instructed to fix it as the company (not me) could be fined by the fire marshal. I only had to take the old plug off and put a new one on. Your fix sounds potentially easier if you can replace the entire cord.

A good 3 prong male plug will run you about 5 bucks and should take no longer than 10 minutes to install.
CajunCandy
Cool! Easy fix, replace whole cord by simply plugging in a new cord! I'm use to replacing whole cord into machine! cajun
Walta
If your machine came equipped from the factory with a GFI on the cord, the right thing to do is make sure your repair does not disable this federally required safety feature. If your machine is refrigerated be sure to use a 14 gage wire in the new cord. If non refrigerated non GFIC, the cord from most computers will work.
