Workman Vending
Suppose I wanted to put a bunch of indy-label CDs in my jukebox from artists who were not members of any of the major PROs. How would I do this legally? Is there a central clearinghouse organization I can pay royalties to?
PerformaVending
That is an awesome question. I guess the answer for me would be how "indie" is indie- if they're with some sort of music group, you should be able to contact them to figure something out, but if they're smaller than that you might be stuck trying to get in touch with the band itself if they're real small. Good luck!
Walta
ASCAP compensation to the artists is set in laws passed by congress, the artists have always felt they got the short end of the stick. Under ASCAP juke boxed must work is defined in the law and hard drive will not qualify. All the legal digital jukebox manufactures have negotiated mutually agreeable contracts with each and every stake holder for each and every song in there library. There is nothing to stop you from doing the same thing except time contacts and money. Walt
