If it is just a stuck dime, there are two options. The most reliable option is to take the head off and empty ONLY the dimes. The other option, if you are good and lucky, is to use a screw driver to try to turn the dime on bottom (the one that might be jammed) and keep trying to get the coin mech to eject it. This can take longer if you don't know how to eject the coin manually.

To dump the dimes, simply remove the head, insert a fi get into the quarters and a finger into the nickels (to keep them from moving) and dump the coin mech upside down so that you can collect the dimes. The CRUCIAL part is to get the last dime separate from the rest. I do this by dumping most of the dimes into a plastic bag except the last 5-10 dimes. Then I slowly remove ALL of the last dimes so that I can get the last dime without mixibg it up with any others. Once I get the last dime (and make sure it isn't still stuck in the ejector), I inspect it for any damage or gunk that may be causing the jam. If I find something obvious, such as a nick in the coin or a bent coin, I'll simply throw it away so it doesn't find its way back in my machines. If there's nothing obvious, I put 10 good dimes back in and test the mech. If it works, fill it up all the way and test 10-20 more times. If it still acts up, I swap it out.

This process usually takes 5 minutes or less, including testing. The other method of using a screw driver (or anything else) to turn the coin can solve a jammed coin problem in a few seconds, but it takes a little practice and, sometimes, another screw driver to "lift" the stack so I can turn the coin easier.

More than likely you have worn out slides in the payout base.  Years of rubbing plastic on plastic and metal on plastic wears them out and causes this.  If you don't find any coins stuck together then it's time to rebuild the coin mech.  I can ship you a rebuilt exchange unit if you need one.

If you have an enormous gunk buildup on the bottom of the dime stack, you can get it loose by squirting a very small amount of rubbing alcohol into the bottom of the dime stack and pushing the payout key a bunch.

I didn't realize you were a redneck, Feral. B)
