nrod7
When a thermostat is plugged in incorrectly ( 2 male to 2 female leads) to the fan, will it still work, will the thermostat work correctly, will it cause other problems. How can I be sure that the thermostat is connected correctly. I know that some electrical cords have a smooth side on half the casing and the other side is ribbed. That is how I hooked up the leads. STILL, I do buy used equipment and the cord could have been replaced or modified. My concern is I may have hooked it up opposite of how I purchased the machine ( cooling well then) after cleaning the deck. The real problem is that the sodas are not getting cold. I would very much like the problem to be that I hooked the thermostat in reverse, or maybe that the thermostat is bad and not have to have the cooling deck fixed. AZVendor
It doesn't matter which wire goes to which terminal on the thermostat. Set the thermostat to 3 1/2 and make sure the capillary tube is folded over twice at the end and then slid into a tube that runs behind the evaporator from the right side of the evap. If the thermostat is bad it will either freeze the cans or short cycle the compressor by not letting it run a full cooling cycle. If the compressor just continues to run without the machine getting cold then you have a compressor problem. If there is ice on the evaporator you probably have low freon. Even if it doesn't cool it could be low freon. You need to have someone look at the compressor and perhaps recharge it.
