Royal Vendors GIII

Hello,

I have a Royal Vendors GIII machine that stopped vending. I've been trying to get a repair tech to look at it but I'm located in Maui and there is no one on island that will come service it!

I had a look inside and it looks like a rat chewed through some of the wires that go to the MDB...thing. Could this be causing the no vend situation (the machine shows you have a credit but when you press a button, absolutely nothing happens).

I've ordered new wiring but want to see if anyone has any ideas of what else it might be in case that doesn't fix it!

Mahalo in advance for your time.

Welcome to the forum.  If you have chewed wiring then that could easily be the issue.  You will need to get all of that fixed first and then see how it behaves.  It's kind of odd that you don't get any error messages or sold out messages or try another selection messages as you try to make a vend.  Do you have any errors in the Error mode?

You can download the entire manual here. There is a detailed trouble shooting section. The fact that you get a credit tells me your MDB system is OK. The fact that you get no error message tells me the problem is likely in the selection switch area. Check harness, switches to select panel.

Thank you for the answer! All the service manuals keep referring to a "service mode" button...which does not seem to exist on our machine. I do have an error message but cannot read it because I need to be in service mode (if  I understand the manual correctly) but can't figure out how to enter that mode!

Your service mode button is on the logic board.  It should be located on the top right corner of the GIII board and is usually a round blue button.  There is also a door switch on the machine to indicate to the board that the door is open (service mode) or closed (vend mode).  When you first open the door of the machine you should see any error codes scrolling on the screen.  To access the error menu you enter the service mode and then scroll to Errors to view them.

Also when you push the service mode button use the 2nd and 3rd button to go up and down.  There will only be 4 maybe 5 selections without putting in the code.  Button 4 is always the "enter" button.  When you scroll through find the one that says "pass code" or something like that, cant remember exactly what it says, then push button 4,2,3,1 in that order and you will be in the main programming section.

Thank you again for the replies. I still can't seem to find this service button (I'm sorry to be so vending machine illiterate). I've attached some photos (I think) and maybe that will help.

If anyone knows a service tech in the Maui area, we'd be happy to pay them in whatever they wanted to come check it out! In the meantime, really do appreciate the responses!

If you send me a plane ticket I'll fix it for free. H-tonguebr6.gif

In your picture, I circled in red where I think the button is. It'll be near the edge of the board.

That is the service mode button! Next roadblock: press the service mode button, try to scroll through the menu using the selection switches...but none of the buttons do anything (and I'm assuming the selection switches are the things on the front that indicate which soda you want)...

Also I imagine my prolific posts are annoying and I do appreciate all the input! If anyone were willing to talk me through this (so I don't have to post a question every twenty minutes) I'd be happy to pay them!

Yes, assuming you have entered the service mode, you use the selection buttons. I always get them mixed up but usually one is next, one is previous, and another is enter. I think the first button is exit but don't quote me on it.

Do you have buttons on the door that are the size of 12 oz cans?

I just looked at your top photo and you do have buttons like this.  This is called a Coke Marketing Door.  The buttons are numbered across the top row from left to right, I believe.  Follow the programming in the manual using the buttons in that order from left to right, 1-4 and you should be good for programming.

After you press the logic board mode button you should be able to press button 2 to step down through the menu options.  This should be the second button from the left on the top row.  If I'm wrong then it's the second button from the right on the top row.  In fact that may be the order as it's counterintuitive as I recall.  If there's no response from the buttons whether its the second from the right or left AND your selection harness from the switches to the board are not damaged then you have a bad logic board.  By the way, does the display change to ERror or some other message when you press the service mode button?
