What parts do you actually need?  You don't need to replace everything you mentioned normally.  If the compressor is bad then you get a new compressor with the same designation on it.  Your friend should be able to get one unless he's not really a licensed tech.  The evaporator never needs to be replaced unless it's perforated or damaged and it's only available from DN.  The drier should always be replaced when putting a new compressor on.  If you don't have a source for these parts then email me at rbepic4gatgmaildotcom and I can help you out.

hes telling me that sometimes the drier beeing bad may be the cause of evaporator only getting cold in one side only

I think.. if the drier is "bad" then pieces of corroded compressor stuff might clog your evaporator. I think it has less to do with the drier being "bad" and more to do with your lines having corroded pieces of your old/current compressor in there.

If the compressor and the drier have been replaced and your evaporator begins to frost only on one side, then you quite possibly have a clogged line and a simple gebtle tap at the end of the frosted line might be enough to send the debris and refrigerant back through the system and it hopefully gets stuck in the drier on its next trip.

P.S. I'm no refrigeration expert. I just try to learn when I can.
