Mint box locations

I recently started mint boxes. I was doing bulk, but I see a decline in this business. The boxes make money, but I have had some odd situations come up. Out of ten locations that I started with, only six have lasted more than a week. I have a hard time finding out why when I question them. The reasons are untrue and lame. If you do not want the box, just say so. Do not waste my time or yours. Don,t tell me there is no room when there obviously is room. The boxes look attractive and I use good candy and blow pops, so that's not the problem. I only question the location so I can do a better job, but I can,t seem to get a straight answer. Anybody else have this problem?

Move on to the next location.  That's the nature of the bsiness.  Even the good accounts dont last forever.   I'm at about 30 locations.  It's a constant flux.  Just find the good locations and keep showing up.

Keep your head up and keep moving forward  ;D ! Ive had my best locations tell me after 6 months that they are worried about theft (when there is zero loss), or one of my favorite excuses is, "we are remodeling and wont have room"  . Actually, my favorite excuse is "we are closing the business, can you please come get this?", and then i drive by for the next several months and see they are still open.

There is really no figuring it out, there is always a excuse to find if the manager wants to find one. I was kicked out of a spot yesterday that was less than 1 month old, and it was looking like it would be a $40 a month location. The owner was worried about theft, and even after i tried to downplay loss as something we are used to, she still wanted it out. I tried to pitch single in their big empty corner, but she was worried that someone would take it too

If its next to their tip jar, its almost a sure thing it wont last long. Once those dollars start going into your mint box instead of their jar, they take notice.

dont get to discouraged, it happens. i had one location say yes 3x, and each time on the first service they kicked me out. it was like some weird game. each time i filled the box as full as i could, and got about $50 out of it in 3 weeks. but even at that, i wont go back.

Keep moving forward, you will find places that will let you stay forever, its just hit and miss, trial and error. ideally, you want to build the route as tight as possible, because it will inevitably thin out.

Wow sounds like I am not alone. Every bulk location I have been kicked out of, had semi valid reason. I think I have to figure about 70% success rate for locations. It is what it is, But I just need to know how account for it. Sheridan did a good job with getting me 10 locations in about 2 days. It still feels the mint boxes are about the best return for the money. I have had better success with little candy bars than mints. Blow pops do well also.

just my experience, ive never had issues like that with bulk. dont get me wrong, ive definitely been kicked out, just not that common. Mint boxes though.... some days i swear the whole thing was crashing down as id get kicked out of 5 places! it seems to come in waves, but, i cant make any sense of it  .  I just keep on moving, and getting as many locations as i can. Like i mentioned, some will stick around for a long long time, others come and go. It takes time, patience, and money to build a profitable, mature route. Even a mature route will have some turnover though. The nice thing about the mint boxes is, they are very easy, and cheap, to pick up and relocate.

I have about 250 locations. It's a never ending process. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to why they ask to remove the box. You just gotta go grab more locations. They are so easy to place that it's really no big deal. It does seem like it comes in waves though. I'll have a box get stolen and 4 kickouts in a week and then I'll go 4 weeks smooth sailing.

I've had some locations for 18 months. So hang in there, you will find keepers.

  • 4 weeks later...

Only suggestion I have is to ask if you can place it in the employee breakroom when asked to remove the box from the location. Many of the locations, its the employees using it the most. I've had good success with this.

It may not stay as strong of a location, but for me, if it still does $10 I'm happy. If it does less but is next to another location, it's worth the stop.
