Golfdogs
Got notice today that one of my accounts has been sold. The new owners run their vending through a VMC. They now want me to pay 15% to them. Wonderful...
AZVendor
That's typical of Mgmt Cos. They are normally in the 15 to 20% range. It could benefit you though if you do a good job and you want any more Mgmt accounts. I grew a lot in the 90's after I hooked up with a Mgmt Co. It's all about how many locations you don't want to have control over.
Georgia bulldog
I am going to get on my soap box about this subject. I hope I do not make anyone mad but these vending management groups are the biggest rip off in the vending industry. I do everything in my power to get the vending location to drop these people they are alot like the irs we work all day filling machines fighting traffic dealing with hard headed customers and at the end of the month the vending mamagement group have there hand stuck out for 15 percent of the money I have worked hard for.I do not need anyone telling me how much to sell my snacks and drinks for and these people try to tell me how much comm. to pay and what product to put in the machines. The last time I looked this vending company is in my name not anyone else so please take a old vendors advice work hard to get them out of your life
AZVendor
Georgia, you are totally correct and I don't think you'll hurt anyone's feelings with your thoughts. There can sometimes be a good relationship between the vendor and the management company but it still remains a one sided arrangement with the vendor having no control or ownership of the location. As long as you know that all accounts with a given management company can disappear at the same time for no apparent reason then you are going into it with your eyes wide open. The worst part of it is the commissions and that they are simply skimming off the top without doing any of the work and then maybe passing some on to their client. I've been there before in the beginning and in the end when all accounts were pulled and given to another vendor. I knew it could happen but that didn't make it any easier to handle. Hopefully Golfdogs will have a smooth transition with no surprises, but then everything with a management company is a surprise, isn't it?
CapitalCityVendingLLC
Yea. We have lost a couple huge accounts in the past due to these management companies. It's unfortunate but it's a part of the game. The accounts don't want to switch. They hated that hourly people came in behind us but our hands were tied. We had a SAMs club lounge that did surprisingly well and lost it because a third party convinced SAMs that it'd be a good idea to have 1 company nation-wide. We have gotten a handful of accounts from these companies thought at a 10% rate. We control pricing though which is good. They wanted monthly checks but we told them quarterly and they didn't argue it. Big picture, only agree to taking on a new account if it's worth your while. There are always plenty of accounts out there to be had.
KychrisKy
I'm with GB i don't like anyone else sticking their hand out wanting something for nothing, the gov is bad enough The only reason I'm registered with national v co Is because I have a Freind that works at the post office and he says the vending sucks their, he said u need this account but when I looked into it I gohnd that national vending has the account which is sub out to another vending co, So this is the only account I'm going for that has two parties involved which is one to many I've notice that our local hospital is done threw national vending too
